Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week's teaser comes from the following book:

Add to Goodreads
Title: Scent of Magic
Author: Maria V. Snyder
Series: Healer, book 2
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Publication Date: December 18, 2012
Source: galley from publisher via Netgalley
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble

Hunted, Killed—Survived?

As the last Healer in the Fifteen Realms, Avry of Kazan is in a unique position: in the minds of her friends and foes alike, she no longer exists. Despite her need to prevent the megalomanical King Tohon from winning control of the Realms, Avry is also determined to find her sister and repair their estrangement. And she must do it alone, as Kerrick, her partner and sole confident, returns to Alga to summon his country into battle.

Though she should be in hiding, Avry will do whatever she can to support Tohon’s opponents. Including infiltrating a holy army, evading magic sniffers, teaching forest skills to soldiers and figuring out how to stop Tohon’s most horrible creations yet; an army of the walking dead—human and animal alike and nearly impossible to defeat.

War is coming and Avry is alone. Unless she figures out how to do the impossible ... again.

My teaser:

"Quain, let go," Belen said. "You're hurting her."
He dropped my arms, pushing me away. "She'll heal."
His cold words were like a slap in my face.

Harsh!  :0)  I am loving being back in Avry's world, full of the magic and lush imagery that first drew me to Maria V. Snyder's books.  I want to get back to it, but I also want to prolong it because I know it will be awhile before I have another one of her books to venture off in.  But did you hear the good news?  More Yelena and Valek are coming!  Eeeeeeekkkk!!!!  :D  [ If you click that link, you can also get a sneak peek at Scent of Magic.  =) ]

  6. Great teaser, mean guy :( She should punch him in the nose and tell him to stop complaining, it'll heal... only much slower :P (Yes I know I have evil violent fictional tendencies)
Anyhow this series is in my TBR - I keep hearing awesome things about the author!
Thanks for stopping by my post! If you don't mind me asking - what other books have you read that are set in Prague? I think I only know Daughter of Smoke and Bone and I'd love to read more!

    1. I sent you an email, but I thought I'd answer here, too. DoSaB was one of them and the other that immediately came to mind was The Book of Blood and Shadow by Robin Wasserman. I loved both. :)
