The Weekend Update - 1.25.14

Saturday, January 25, 2014 with 10 comments
So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit.  I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff:  stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog.  Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things.

Big changes on the blog this week!  The biggest news, of course, is that there's a new starry-eyed reviewer around here.  It was a really spontaneous decision for both of us, but we're both extremely happy and excited about it.  We both bring different things to the blog, but when our forces combine, well, it's going to be magical.  Expect hilarity to ensue when it comes to our joint reviews and discussion posts.  =)

April still plans on doing her own Stacking the Shelves post on Sundays, so I'll only share the books I've personally received during the week. But I'll still link to everything we've done on the blog, just in case you missed something and because this is more of a wrap-up post.

Anyway, here's what I scored this week:

For Review:

Unforgotten (Unremembered, #2)Say What You WillTsarina
Thank you, Macmillan, Harper & Penguin!!!
(click on the cover(s) above to be taken to the Goodreads page for each book)

I've yet to read my ARC of Unremembered, though I've heard good things.  Maybe having the sequel to it will help me make time for it?  And I've been waiting to read Say What You Will forever...it sounds sad but uplifting, realistic but hopeful.  Perfect, in other words. ;0)  Plus, Summer really liked it. :)  And then, wow, I am unbelievably excited about Tsarina.  The cover is gorgeous, friends are already loving it...I can't to start it.

Evertrue (Everneath, #3)Split Second (Pivot Point, #2)
(click on the cover(s) above to be taken to the Goodreads page for each book)

These two I borrowed from the lovely Sara at Forever 17 Books.  I've already read Evertrue and overall, I'm pretty satisfied with how the series ended. My review should be up next week.

Purchased:

The Summer I Turned Pretty (Summer, #1)
(click on the cover(s) above to be taken to the Goodreads page for each book)

This was an Amazon Daily Deal yesterday.  I've never read it, and April really likes the series, so I picked it up.  Sadly, I don't know when I'll get to it -- isn't that always the case? -- but I'd rather pay $1.99 for it now than $10 later when I finally make time for it.  =)

So, that's my haul.  How about you?  What did you get this week?

Jen's Currently Reading/Listening To:

Secret (Elemental, #4)Split Second (Pivot Point, #2)I absolutely adored Kasie West's debut Pivot Point when I read it last year, and I was dying to get my hands on the sequel.   I'm going to try my best to savor it.  =)

I can't believe I haven't read this one yet.  I am so excited to get Nick's story, but for whatever reason I kept putting this one off...I guess you just have to be in the right frame of mind for those Merrick boys. :)

  3. Say What You Will sounds really good and I've seen amazing reviews so far. Loved Split Second although I really missed seeing two different choices unfold. I still need to read Everneath. I just love the covers of that series.

  4. So jealous about Tsarina and Split Second. I'm glad they both come out in Feb. I thought the first two books in the Summer series were alright, but I seriously hated the third book. The review I wrote for it was probably the rantest thing I've ever written. Lol. Hope you love all your new books and are having a great weekend!

  8. I got Tsarina too! Very excited about it. That cover is so beautiful. I had no clue about it until last week...no idea how I'd not heard about it yet. I'm really hoping Split Second and Unforgotten are amazing.

  9. I really want to read Say What You Will as well. And I've had Secret for a while now, just haven't gotten to it, even with as much as I absolutely loved the Merrick brothers and the series. Hopefully I will be in the right frame of mind soon!
