Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the awesome ladies at The Broke and the Bookish. Apparently, they are overly fond of list-making and love to share their bookish lists with the rest of us book nerds. =) I'm game.
This week's list features the Top Ten 2014 Debuts I'm Excited For:
So, I've already read a few debuts from 2014 that I was excited about: Alienated was fun and not what I was expecting from a book about an alien exchange program; Defy was a bit of a disappointment, but I might be persuaded to pick up the next installment; and Cruel Beauty was just stunning...my review will be up later this week.
Until then, here are ten more 2014 debuts that I would very much like to get my hands on:
Midnight Thief - Read the prequel novella and LOVED it, so this is pretty high on my list of wants.
Illusive - Superpowers, criminals, awesome cover...what more is there?
The Falconer - Mmm...a faerie killer in Scotland -- it's like someone got a hold of my wish list!
The Elite - "In the vein of a YA DaVinci Code"...yes please.
All That Glows - Fae, a prince, and magic -- all things I love.
Open Road Summer - Pretty excited about this book featuring a musical road trip and a boy next door.
Summer on the Short Bus - I am all for teaching youth some accountability! :P
Wish You Were Italian - This one just sounds freaking adorable. (On a side note: my husband said that when Katie's older, he'd like for her to study abroad for a semester, to which I replied, "But what if she falls in love with some hot, foreign guy and doesn't want to come home?" His reply: "Well, we'll just have to go over there and kick his ass and drag her back." :D)
Side Effects May Vary - I'm hoping this is every bit the sad, thoughtful and reflective story it appears.
A Mad, Wicked Folly - I passed on this one because I wasn't in the mood for historical fiction at the time, but I'm regretting that now...so many people are gushing!
There are many more 2014 debuts on my to-read list, but these are the ones I'm making a priority. Luckily, I already have a couple of them on my Kindle, so I can get a good start on them and hopefully make it to some others that didn't make this list. =)

I would love to read all of these except Summer of a short bus and Wish you were Italian. I'm also looking forward to Fire&Flood.
ReplyDeleteI'm also looking forward to Fire & Flood, but it's not Victoria Scott's debut, so I couldn't put it on the list. :P
DeleteDefinitely an amazing list here!! I'm looking forward to so many of these as well!! Open Road Summer keeps teasing me with that gorgeous cover! LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!

Top Ten Tuesday
I know...the cover gods really smiled on ORS, didn't they? :)
DeleteA lot of these are new to me! Open Road Summer has been on like every list I have made about 2014 books I need. I hope it lives up to my expectations! I just finished Cruel Beauty yesterday and thought it was really good too!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty excited about it...I love when music is incorporated into a novel, but it has to be done right. And, yay, so glad you liked Cruel Beauty, too! :D
DeleteWish your were Italian and A Mad,Wicked Folly made my list but now, I am thinking I should have added The Falconer, Side Effects May Vary, Cruel Beauty and Elite to my list as well.
ReplyDeleteI know...I kept seeing others I forgot to add to my list, too!
DeleteCruel Beauty is coming up for me. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it so much. I'm in love with that girl's hair on the cover of The Falconer. I might read it solely for that reason. Great list! I want to read all of these.
ReplyDeleteHa, I've read books before solely for the cover. No shame in that!
DeleteHa, I love your title for this! As you know, I am dying to get my hands on Cruel Beauty! I'm loving all your picks, some of them I haven't heard before (like The Elite and The Falconer). I read Illusive and really liked it! The love triangle was all sorts of frustration, but I rooted for the wrong guy soooo yeah. Knowing you, you'll have all of these in your hands very soon!
ReplyDeleteI really hope Illusive lives up to my expectations, despite this love triangle you mention. Especially since I tend to root for the wrong guy myself. :(
DeleteWish You Were Italian sounds adorable! I loved Flirting in Italian, and it looks somewhat similar. Cruel Beauty was amazing, too. Great picks :)
ReplyDeleteI actually thought it was a sequel or companion or something the first time I saw it, until I realized it was by a completely different author. :)
DeleteI only heard of Summer on the Short Bus today, but it's already on my really-want-list. I'd like to read Midnight Thief too! I was cool with the novella that came out. I'm reeeally excited for Cress and Dorothy Must Die. :)
ReplyDeleteSide Effects May Vary sounds so good, and I agree with you in your comment.I sure hope it lives up to what we expect.
ReplyDeleteIf not, we can always have a private bashing party. lol.
Great list! I'm so excited for so many of these and a few made my list too. Side Effects May Vary looks so good, I can't wait for that one! There seems to be so many good books coming out in 2014, I'm not sure where I'll find the time to read them all. I hope you get to all of your picks :) My TTT.
ReplyDeleteI've seen people all around being excited about Illusive - X-men meets Ocean's Eleven. :D Sure sounds like a cool read!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh....so much awesomeness in this post. Total agreement re: Midnight Thief, The Falconer, Wishing You Were Italian and Open Road Summer! I actually have an early non-spoilery review of Alienated up today--I think you'll like that one, Jen. Super swoony and although a bit light in some ways, there are also some thought-provoking parts too:)
ReplyDeleteOh, and I totally blanked on Illusive! That one should have made my list because, hello, SUPERPOWERS.
