In My Mailbox #52

Saturday, October 13, 2012 with 8 comments

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.  It's a weekly meme where we all get to brag about the books and swag we got in the mail, for review, won in contests, etc.

Man, why do short weeks always feel the longest when you have to work?  I thought this week would never end!  We had a great time visiting family down in Austin, but because of all the fun stuff we did, I didn't get much reading done.  =(  I did come back to find some great books waiting for me, though!

For Review:

Venom by Fiona Paula - received from Southern Book Bloggers ARC Tours, this one actually arrived right before I left for my trip, but I neglected to mention it on last week's IMM post.  You can read my review here.

Blood Red Road by Moira Young - paperback received for review from Simon & Schuster, along with an ARC of the sequel.  You can read my full review here and see why I consider this one of my favorite reads of 2011.

Rebel Heart by Moira Young - ARC received for review from Simon & Schuster.  Oh my...you guys have no idea how excited I was to find this package waiting for me at the office.  This is one of the sequels I was most anticipating this year, and it's finally here!  I just have one more book to read and then I'm starting this bad boy.  Or, you know, I'll put that other one off and start Rebel Heart this weekend.  Yeah, probably that second option.  =)

Scent of Magic by Maria V. Snyder - galley received from HarlequinTeen via Netgalley.  Ohmygodohmygodohmygod!  Maria V. Snyder is one of my most favoritest authors.  I have loved everything I've read of hers, which is pretty much everything but the Glass series.  I cannot wait to get back to Avery and Kerrick and that wonderful, wonderful fantasy world Snyder has created!

Purchased:

Feed by Mira Grant - You guys know how I enjoy my beloved zombie stories, so when Jenny at Mimosa Stimulus mentioned in a GR thread that this novel was on sale for a measly $1.99 (Amazon | Barnes & Noble), I could not pass this ebook up.  I've wanted to start this series for what feels like forever, but now that the last book is out, I feel like it's finally time.  Sometimes, the waiting just pays off.  :P

The Week in Review:

Reviews:  The Diviners and Venom

Current Giveaways:  Enter to win a copy of Entwined by Heather Dixon in the Happily Ever After Giveaway Hop.  Ends 10/14!!!

Also, I'm participating in the Sweet Evil Read Along all month long!  My Week 2 post went up on Monday.  This week's post centered around "The Pear Incident" and featured participants' favorite pear or citrus recipes.

The Week Ahead:

In this week's Sunday Symposium feature, we'll be discussing reviews...what you like about them, what you don't, what type really catches your eye...that kind of thing.

The Valkyrie Rising Blog Tour stops by later today, and I'll have my review up for you.

I'll also be reviewing Crewel and The Raven Boys audio this week.

Also, I hope you'll stop by and enter the giveaway on my stop of the Fall into Fantasy Giveaway Hop, which starts early next week.

    1. I am so glad to hear you say that! Cause honestly, you're kind of the reason I read BRR in the first place. But how much crazier could Rebel Heart be after all the insanity in BRR?!? I'm so making it my next read so I can find out. ;)

    1. OMG, you have to read BRR. It takes a little while to get into, I won't lie, but it's so worth it. I want to tell you all of the reasons you should read it, but I don't to spoil anything...so much better going into it knowing nothing. And, YES, check out Snyder. I started with the Study series, and I've loved everything since. She's so great at fantasy and sci-fi.
