The Weekend Update - 4.4.15

Saturday, April 4, 2015 with 12 comments
So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit.  I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff: stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog.  Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things.  Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore.  April's also doing her own Stacking the Shelves posts on Sundays.  Stop by and say hi!  =)
Happy Easter weekend, guys! I am psyched that it's a three day weekend and not-so-psyched that we're not going to have such lovely weather for egg hunting and outdoor reading. We'll make do, though. I will likely be in a sugar coma after all of the jelly beans I consume this weekend, so it all evens out. :P

It's also our 8th wedding anniversary today, but because it falls on Easter weekend this year, we probably won't do much because of plans with family. We've technically been together for 12 years, though, so we've celebrated a lot over that time. I'm just happy to be married to such a great guy, and that we have such a wonderful little girl to show for it. :D

Anyway, here's what I scored this week:

For Review:

The Wondrous and the Wicked by Page Morgan
Silver in the Blood by Jessica Day George
The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker (I actually won this from the lovely Erin but plan to review it later)
The Improbably Theory of Ana & Zak by Brian Katcher
The Fill-in Boyfriend by Kasie West
The Prom Goer's Interstellar Excursion by Chris McCoy
Jack: The True Story of Jack & the Beanstalk by Liesl Shurtliff (MG)
The Fearless by Emma Pass
Under the Spotlight by Angie Stanton
Emancipated by M.G. Reyes

Gifted/Traded:

Nothing this week, though I'm thinking of doing a "Have You Seen This?" post to complete some of my collection. :)

Library:

The Storyspinner (The Keepers' Chronicles, #1)Mr. Kiss and Tell (Veronica Mars, #2)

The Storyspinner by Becky Wallace (ebook)
Mr. Kiss and Tell (Veronica Mars #2) by Rob Thomas (audiobook) - had a review copy but I loved the audiobook performed by Kristen Bell so much that I waited for this audio, only to discover that it's NOT narrated by her; however, I love Rebecca Loman, especially after Fangirl, so I'm still happy to have this

Purchased:

Sea of Stars (Kricket, #2)

Sea of Stars by Amy A. Bartol (audiobook) [review]

So, that's my haul. :) How about you? What did you get this week?

Promotional/Discussion Posts:

Jen's Currently Reading/Listening To:

Flat-Out Celeste (Flat-Out Love, #2)An Ember in the AshesTechnically, I'm about 15% into The Girl at Midnight, but it hasn't grabbed me yet, so I'm contemplating starting this bad boy. I have no doubts I'll love it, but I'm also afraid that it will make me even less-inclined to read TGaM. :( What to do? (Probably start this anyway by the time this posts, lol.)

Caught this in an Audible sale last week. I adored Flat-out Love, and I love Tavia Gilbert as a narrator, so this should be fun. Not very far into it, but I'm already reminded of why I loved Celeste in the first book and why she deserves her own story.

Upcoming Reviews:

The Mime Order (The Bone Season, #2)Vision in Silver (The Others, #3)The Heart of Betrayal (The Remnant Chronicles, #2)End of Days (Penryn and the End of Days, #3)

  1. Sorry GaM isn't grabbing you. It's been a mixed bag for a lot of people. I liked it but didn't love it. I will read the sequel hoping for it to be a bit stronger all around. I think you'll love Ember (READ IT). I adored it. Happy 8 years! My hubby and I have been married 8 years too. The weather here is a bit soggy, humid and bleh. Enjoy the books! I got some of the same and I'm so excited about them!
