In My Mailbox #89

Saturday, July 6, 2013 with 10 comments

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.  It's a weekly meme where we all get to brag about the books and swag we got in the mail, for review, won in contests, etc.

redneck water theme park

Hey, y'all!  Hope you're all having a fabulous weekend!  I'm not really here...I'm probably out with my family doing something redneck-ish because, apparently, that's what Texans do over the 4th of July holiday weekend...or so my husband tells me.  I tried to bribe my way out of that so I could read, but no dice.  *sigh*  I just hope there's water involved...it's HOT!

(I'm totally kidding...we are not that redneck...yet.  :P)

For Review:

Angel Fever (Angel, #3)Tandem (Many-Worlds, #1)HeartbeatParasite (Parasitology, #1)

click on covers to be taken to the Goodreads page for each book

Angel Fever by L.A. Weatherly - Now that the whole love triangle thing seems to have gone the way of the dodo, it's time to concentrate on those evil angels!  Whoop!

Tandem by Anna Jarzab - Why did no one tell me this was up on NG?  Huh?  I've seen it on WoWs for weeks now, and I just assumed I'd have to wait with the masses.  *happy dance*

Heartbeat by Elizabeth Scott - Sounds sad but hopeful.  I've been in the mood for this type of book lately.

Parasite by Mira Grant - Dude.  Everyone raves about this author.  I've only read/listened to the first book in her Newsflesh trilogy, but it left me slack-jawed and incoherent, which resulted in me not reviewing it, so I can only imagine what this newest book will do to me.

Purchased/Audiobooks:

The Distance Between UsWritten in Red (The Others, #1)

I've been a lot better lately when it comes to purchasing books.  That's not to say that I don't have a full cart at B&N, Amazon, and Book Closeouts, but I haven't clicked the purchase button yet, so that's saying a lot.  My willpower knows no bounds!  NOT!  :P  Still I'm pretty excited to have The Distance Between Us in my hands now after months of coveting the title.  The audiobook for Written in Red was purchased on a whim, but I had credits burning a hole in my Audible pocket, so I'm not liable for that decision.  =)

So, that's our haul.  How about you?  What did you get this week?

The Week in Review:

Reviews:

Current Giveaways: Freedom to Read Giveaway Hop, ARC of Belladonna

Promotional/Discussion Posts:  SYNC's 2013 Week 6 offerings are up for download, with Carter Finally Gets It and She Stoops to Conquer up for grabs this week -- FOR FREE!  I also helped to reveal the cover to the sequel to The Scourge by A.G. Henley.  And I announced that I'm hosting my first giveaway hop, alongside two awesome fellow bloggers...sign-ups are NOW OPEN!  :D

Jen's Currently Reading/Listening:

Written in Red (The Others, #1)Dirty Little SecretLoved Such a Rush, which was my first Jennifer Echols novel. I have since purchased several, but I haven't gotten to them yet. However, I have this for review, which means I fit it into my schedule.  :)

Like I said, I bought this on a whim after reading several great reviews.  The audio is long, but it's pretty awesome so far.  Great characters, fantastic world....the works.  :D

Mendy's Currently Reading/Listening:

45 Pounds (More or Less)
Stolen: A Letter to My Captor
Trying my best to get this read before it releases next week!  It's cute so far...and terribly relatable.  At least for me.

Jen knows I like issue books.  And accents.  And I haven't listened to this much in the last week...oops.

The Week Ahead:

Reviews:   Tarnish (audio), Losing Hope, Dirty Little Secret & Written in Red (audio)

Um, looks like it'll be a quiet week.  Unless I've forgotten to mark something on my calendar.  ;0)

  10. You received some great books this week. I'm laughing so hard at your red neck waterpark gif. I've seen people do stuff like that before and it always leaves me shaking my head. Hope you had a good 4th though even if you didn't get to read.
