Author Block Party: If you could gather a handful of authors to hang out with, who would you choose? 

Hmmm...these questions always seem easy at first glance, but when I actually sit down to type out my response, I find myself inundated with possibilities.  After all, there are a ton of authors that I love to read and stalk online.  But when it comes down to it, these are the ladies that I'd actually want to hang out with:

 
The ever-witty, funny, clever, and uber-talented Maggie Stiefvater.  Her writing is lyrical and her self-made book trailers are phenomenal.  She's a successful writer, artist, and musician...in other words, the package deal.

Libba Bray:  writer-extraordinaire.  Is there any subject this woman cannot write about?  She tackles it all and skillfully so.  But mostly, I'd like to corner her and beg her to continue Gemma Doyle's story.  :-)

I adore Beth Revis' online presence almost as much as her writing.  There are authors that are ostentatious and then there are those that really make themselves available to their fans.  Beth falls in the latter category.

I have to admit here that I haven't yet read anything by Maureen Johnson, though I do have Little Blue Envelopes waiting for me on my Nook.  (And I'm dying to read The Name of the Star!)  But I don't know how I'd make it through the day without the comic relief of her tweets.  And then there's that steadfast way she stands up for anyone and everything she believes in.  How could anyone not love her?



Last, but certainly not least, I would have to invite Hannah Moskowitz along for the ride.  Her writing makes you thoughtful and questioning...and it makes you feel.  She seems pretty open-minded and like she'd be a ton of fun to hang out with.  And, of course, the funny.

So, yeah, pretty much, if an author can make me laugh, they're in.  Which is why it was so hard for me to narrow down my choices.  But I think I did well, especially considering how long the list was when I started...

Friday Five #6

In which I list the five books I *plan* to read next, major emphasis on the word plan because I'm an impulsive/compulsive book buyer, and what I intend to read also changes with my mood. =D Whenever I finish a book, I always feel kind of lost, so I think keeping a list like this will help me stay on track and actually remember what I really wanted to read next. Hopefully...


I'm rockin' and rollin' through the Vampire Academy audiobooks.  I'm on Shadow Kisses, book #3, right now, and if I wasn't taking a short vacation at the end of next week, I'd probably finish the series by next Friday.
1.  I'm still waiting on my copy of  to show up.  I had hoped to read it over vacation, but it may have to wait.  :(

And then it's back to choosing from my top five, though Invicible Summer is a fore-runner, namely because I already have it downloaded on my Nook and need to prepare myself with some Hannah Moskowitz before another ARC tour later this year for Gone, Gone, Gone.  But also because my book soulmate, one Cheles Bells, said I should read it next, and well, she IS my book soulmate, so I must oblige.  :D

Friday Five #4

Oy!  I've been a little bit absent from the interwebz lately because the universe decided to throw a couple of curveballs my way.  My husband's truck was stolen last Tuesday night while we slept, and if that's not enough to cope with, the alternator on our surviving car, the one I drive to and fro everyday, decided to crap out on me yesterday on my way in to work.

Needless to say, I haven't been much in the mood to read or review or blog, but I'm rectifying that now.  No more wallowing; now it's time to indulge myself with a good book.  What better way to escape from the harsh realities of my real life than by reading about the fictional lives of my favorite characters, am I right?

I'll be finishing up today, then I'm left to choose between one of the following before my doodled-in copy of  arrives next week!  EEEKKK!!!  You know I'll drop whatever I'm doing to start on that gem as soon as it's in my hands!

Friday Five #3

In which I list the five books I *plan* to read next, major emphasis on the word plan because I'm an impulsive/compulsive book buyer, and what I intend to read also changes with my mood.  =D  Whenever I finish a book, I always feel kind of lost, so I think keeping a list like this will help me stay on track and actually remember what I really wanted to read next.  Hopefully...
Okay, so I'm half-way through  (and loving it, by the way) but after that, these are my next five reads....unless of course I buy another book or discover that a book I've been dying for is releasing on Tuesday and I forgot about it...or any other number of circumstances that could cause me to move a book up in my TBR pile. ;)
