The Weekend Update - 9.26.15

Saturday, September 26, 2015 with 5 comments
So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit.  I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff: stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog.  Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things.  Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore.  April's also doing her own Stacking the Shelves posts on Sundays.  Stop by and say hi!  =)

Well, I finished my re-read/listen of The Gemma Doyle Trilogy this week, and it was as lovely and wonderful and heart-breaking as I remember. I must read something light and fun to make up for what I just did to myself. o_O But it was worth it...such a great series.

I also re-listened to The Book of Ivy, which was also kind of gut-wrenching. But man, does Bishop bring the swoons! And I'm in the process of re-listening to The Wrath and the Dawn. Apparently, I'm in a masochistic mood this week. But sometimes, you just want to read -- or re-read, as it were -- a book that you know you're going to love.

It's not like I'm in a reading slump. Far from it. I have soooo many awesome books on my shelf and on my Kindle, just waiting for me to get to them. But it's nice to revisit old friends. =)

As for real life, I'm in a kind of stasis, waiting for the house to close, packing up all the things, and trying not to buy anything before the move, i.e. books. Thank goodness for all those pre-orders I placed over the summer so I can legitimately tell my husband that I really didn't buy anything…those were all purchased weeks and months ago. :D

Anyway, here's what I scored this week:

For Review:

Curiosity House: The Shrunken Head by Lauren Oliver and H.C. Chester - I can't wait to read this Middle Grade with Katiebug! It's written by one of my favorite authors and her father!

Library:

Made for You

Made For You by Melissa Marr - Kinda creepy, kinda corny. Mildly entertaining. Also a bit of a bummer that the library download was missing big chunks in the beginning. :(

Purchased:

I was soooo tempted to use some of my Audible credits this week, but I showed some restraint. :P I did find some stuff for my #otspsecretsister, though! :D

So, that's my haul. Not as exciting as the last few weeks, but I needed a breather after that, anyway. :)

Currently Reading:

DreamstriderYeah, I actually ended up starting The Mirror King last week instead, so maybe I'll start Dreamstrider this weekend. I just couldn't help myself. And I can't promise I'll be any better this weekend with all of those 2016 titles downloaded to my Kindle. o_O

Currently Listening:

The Wrath and the Dawn (The Wrath and the Dawn, #1)I've seen so many people reading this book for the first time this week, and I am so jealous. So, what did I do? I opted for a re-listen. And you know what? It's even better than the first time.

Upcoming Reviews:

Lion Heart (Scarlet, #3)The Invasion of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling, #2)Illuminae (The Illuminae Files, #1)The Mirror King (The Orphan Queen, #2)

  2. Okay, going to give The Wrath another go. I couldn't get into it before. Sigh.

    Happy reading/listening!

  3. I've got to get my hands on Curiosity House. The cover and title alone grab me. I just pre-ordered Titans by Victoria Scott. Won't get it til February and bought the hard cover as it's not much more than the kindle copy. Mechanical horses with human jockeys, how cool is that! Happy reading:)

  5. Curiosity House: The Shrunken Head looks quite interesting. Now I need to go see if it is part of a series and if so, see about the first book. Happy Reading!
