The Weekend Update - 10.18.14

Saturday, October 18, 2014 with 6 comments
So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit.  I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff: stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog.  Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things.  Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore.  April's also doing her own Stacking the Shelves posts on Sundays.  Stop by and say hi!  =)
As you're reading this, I'm probably perusing books at the Texas Teen Book Festival and hobnobbing with some of YA literature's biggest names. (Unless you're reading this at midnight, in which case, I'm not because I'm asleep or reading. :D) I'll post all about it when I return, and if I don't forget, I'll post some pics to instagram as it's all happening. I thought it might not happen at all because on Wednesday, my car decided to start overheating on me, but thanks to my mechanically-inclined husband -- who is not a mechanic but loves working on cars -- I'm all set. Just me, the open road, and some awesome audiobooks and tunes to keep me company.

Anyway, here's what I scored this week:

For Review:

I'll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios (ARC) - LovedlovedLOVED her debut, Something Real, and I'll be listening to Exquisite Captive real soon, but I think that this book is already going to be my favorite of hers...just as soon as I read it, lol.

Out of Control

Out of Control by Sarah Alderson - I remember Nereyda gushing about this one so hard. I couldn't pass it up when I saw it on EW.

audiobooks for review:
Sublime

Sublime by Christina Lauren - I don't know much about this book except that it's a ghostly love story. And that's pretty much all I needed to know. :)

Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick - I liked her Hush, Hush books well enough all those years ago, so I thought I'd give this new one a try. Should be interesting, at least. It's my road trip audiobook since she's going to be at Texas Teen Book Festival...maybe I'll have her sign the cover? :P

As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride by Cary Elwes & Joe Layden - If you know nothing else about me, you should know that The Princess Bride is my favorite movie of EVAR, so I'll read anything, anything about it or based off it. And I think this is actually narrated by Cary Elwes. *sigh* Westley!!!

So, that's my haul. How about you? What did you get this week?

Jen's Currently Reading/Listening To:

The Jewel (The Lone City, #1)CompulsionSouthern gothic romance...yes, please! I'm typing this up on Thursday since I'll be headed down to Austin on Friday, so I've only just started this book, but so far, it's good. I still have a lot to figure out, which is working in the book's benefit. I hate when things are so utterly predictable.

Ditto on this one...I may have actually finished it by the time this posts. Actually, I hope I have or that I've given up on it. It's painfully slow at the beginning and sooo very reminiscent of The Selection. I want it to surprise me. Also, I want to be reading Black Ice on my way to Austin...so, yeah.
