Uncovered - 3/2/12

Oh, the pretties!!!

Rift by Andrea Cremer, scheduled for release on 8/7/12

I think out of these cover reveals, I'm most excited about Reached.  Crossed, the second book in Ally Condie's dystopian trilogy took a little while to grab my attention, but once it did, I was enthralled.  I can't wait to see what's in store for Cassia, Ky, and Xander.

Starling has piqued my curiosity.  I haven't read anything by Lesley Livingston, but I've been told that her Wondrous Strange series is one I should pick up.  Thoughts?

I'd like to say I'm super-excited about Rift, the prequel novel to the Nightshade series by Andrea Cremer, but after someone ruined Bloodrose for me on Goodreads, I'm finding it difficult to even pretend to be interested.  I liked Nightshade, then I forced my way through Wolfsbane, but because of the spoiler, I haven't even cracked Bloodrose open.  Some tell me I shouldn't even bother.  Would you?

I wasn't aware of this book until I saw it at ALA Midwinter.  Of course, the ARC only has a black cover, which made it all mysterious and such, so I had to grab it up.  But now that I know the premise, I'm even more intrigued.  I just love a good Romeo & Juliet retelling!

I'm probably the only person I know who hasn't started this series...shoot, who hasn't even read anything by Cinda Williams Chima.  But that just means that when The Crimson Crown releases, I can read the whole series together instead of dealing with that agonizing wait between books.  Also, I do have The Warrior Heir on my Nook, but I just haven't gotten around to it.  Which series would you suggest I start with?

Until the cover reveal of Gravity, I hadn't heard a thing about this novel.  But it sounds right up my alley.  Aliens.  A forbidden love.  A smart heroine who should know better.  Yup.  I'm gonna have to give this one a go when it's released.  Also, the preorder price on B&N right now for this paperback is only $5.70, so it's a steal!  And you know I can't pass those up!

So, what do you guys think?!?  The cover for Witch Eyes was kinda scary, but this is just...well, I may have nightmares now.  (Don't judge me...I have nightmares after watching scary movies.  Also, after eating anything tomato-based.)

Squeeeeee!  I love novellas because of the additional character insight provided...well, that, and it's another snippet into the lives of my favorite characters.  :)  So, when I saw that Aimee Carter had written a short story for her Goddess Test series, I was obviously delighted.  And I'm doubly delighted now that the cover has been revealed:

What do you think?  I know I wish publishers would stop changing the covers mid-series.  It really screws with the harmony of my bookshelves.  But I don't hate the new covers or anything.  And more than anything, I'm just excited to read what happens to Saba and Jack and everyone else.  New cover or not, this is a must-read for me.  And, well, it doesn't hurt if Jack is on the cover this time around.  :D  Or do you think that's Lugh?

New week, new pretties to lust over:

I loved Sweet Venom, and as soon as I finished it, I immediately wanted to read more of Grace, Gretchen, and Greer's story.  Sisters descended from Medusa?  Count me in!  I can't find a firm release date for Sweet Shadows, but it's slated for this year.  Gorgons FTW!

If you haven't read Unearthly, you'd better get on it.  The much-anticipated sequel, Hallowed, releases next Tuesday (1/17), and if those covers weren't gorgeous enough, here's the trailer for the second installment:

Alas, after much anticipation, the cover has been unveiled for City of Lost Souls, the fifth book in Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments series:

Finally, a cover with Clary AND Jace!!!  And now I wait with baited breath until the release on May 8th.  *sigh*

Uncovered - 1/2/12

Okay, so I was out on vacation last Thursday when this beauty was revealed, but behold:

I *love* this series.  And going into it, I totally didn't expect to.  And if someone had told me before-hand that after reading the first book, I'd want to own everything Rachel Vincent has ever written, I would have given them a very strange look, indeed.  But they would have been absolutely right.  This author is a great storyteller, one who has fun along the way and doesn't take herself or her story too seriously.

Oh, and in case you've been living under a rock, the novella that takes place between If I Die and Before I Wake is now available for download:

Uncovered - 12/22/11

Covers revealed this week:

I think we all know that when I hear the word "dystopian," my ears perk up.  So, of course I've added Chosen Ones to my TBR list.  I adore steampunk, as well, and I've started the Steampunk Chronicles already, so you know I'll be picking up The Girl in the Clockwork Collar.

Also, the trailer for the final installment of Andrea Cremer's Nightshade series, Bloodrose, is out:



I've heard such mixed reviews for Bloodrose.  I'm almost afraid to read it.  I was so excited to read Wolfsbane earlier this year but was very disappointed with it, so I'm not anticipating this last book near as much.  Especially with some of the negative comments I've seen about where the author takes the story.  I'll still give it a chance, though.

What do you think of the trailer?  Did you like Wolfsbane?  If not, are you still going to read Bloodrose?

So many sequels, so little time.  I'll admit, I've actually only read Hereafter, the book before Tara Hudson's Arise, pictured above, but I own most of the first installments in these series, and Eve is DEFINITELY on my TBR list, though all of these sequels have recently been added to that list.

Seriously, authors, can't you take a break from writing fabulous books for a little while so I can get caught up on my TBR pile?  I do have a day job, ya know... :D
