Top Ten Tuesday: Fave Contemps

Tuesday, March 11, 2014 with 13 comments

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the awesome ladies at The Broke and the Bookish. Apparently, they are overly fond of list-making and love to share their bookish lists with the rest of us book nerds.  =) We're game.

This week's list features the Top Ten Favorite Contemporary Novels:

April's picks:

Anna and the French KisstspolafsBright Before SunriseThe Sea of TranquilityHopelessThe Sky is EverywhereThe summer I turned prettyOpen Road SummerOn the IslandSlammed

It's really so hard to narrow down favorite contemporaries. Anna and the French Kiss was my first ever, and I've been addicted ever since. I remember back in the day when I was all about vampires and shit. They are played out now, contemps hold my heart. I'm sure this list will change by next year, I see a few on Jen's list that I haven't read yet. lol

Jen's picks:

Something RealFangirlMeant to BeLola and the Boy Next Door (Anna and the French Kiss, #2)My Life Next Door (My Life Next Door, #1)The Sky is EverywhereThe Fault in Our StarsOpen Road SummerStolenJellicoe Road

Some of these are newer favorites, some are pre-release favorites (they were that good), and some are favorites that you'll see on every list I compile until the end of time. I can't believe I ever dismissed this genre so readily when I first started blogging. I'm still a hard-core fantasy girl, but I do love a good contemporary now, too. =)

So, which popular authors haven't you read yet? :)  Share the link to you TTT post so we can visit!

  1. I love these picks! Anna, Sea of Tranquility, Something Real, Fangirl, My Life Next Door, Stars, Jellicoe Road --- some of my very favorites. :) Lauren is sending me Open Road Summer this week; I'm so excited to read it.

  6. Both Anna and Lola made my list this week, but I tweaked the topic and made it books I have NOT yet read yet. :) On the Island is another one that I purchased a while ago and am very curious to read. I loved Fangirl, and I hope to make some time to read Attachments and E&P soon.

  8. I just finished Stolen yesterday. Wow... It would have made my list, too, if I'd chosen the contemporary genre!

  9. This post gives me all the fuzzy feels. YES, YES, YES! I almost chose contemporary, but couldn't just pick ten. So, I narrowed it down to 'tough issues'.

    Here's my TTT.

  13. The only one of these I have read is the Fault in Our Stars, which I loved. I usually don't read a lot of contemporary, but I've heard a lot of good things about Anna and the french kiss too, so I'm definitely going to read that one.
