In My Mailbox #64

Saturday, January 12, 2013 with 12 comments

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.  It's a weekly meme where we all get to brag about the books and swag we got in the mail, for review, won in contests, etc.

What a loooong week!  I always hate the first full week back after vacation.  :(  But these goodies put a big smile on my face!

For Review:

Prodigy by Marie Lu - I really enjoyed Lu's debut novel Legend last year and have been eagerly anticipating the sequel ever since.  Huge thanks to Jen over at YA Romantics for sending me her extra ARC!!!  I've already started it and it is SOOO good.

The Essence by Kimberly Derting - The Pledge was another great dystopian novel I read last year that really surprised me with its originality.  I can't wait to get back to  Charlie and Max and see what's next for this world.

The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay - Okay, I was going to pass on this one simply because I have more than enough to read already, but I keep seeing rave reviews from friends, and then Autumn posted this Swoon Thursday at The Autumn Review, and I was a goner.  I must meet Josh pronto!

The Nightmare Affair by Mindee Arnett - Loved the idea of maras in the Soul Screamers series and I can't wait to see this new take on it.  Plus, I'm a stop on the blog tour in February!

Dare You To by Katie McGarry - I had the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Pushing the Limits last year, and I fell in love with McGarry's writing and her characters.  I can't wait to read more about Beth, who was a minor character in the first book.

The Sweetest Dark by Shana Abe - Love historical fiction.  Not big on the idea that we already know that there's a potential love triangle going into this thing, but hopefully it's well-done and doesn't make me want to pull my hair out.  ;0)

And I got some Across the Universe swag from the super cool Beth Revis!

Big, big thanks to Jen @ YA Romantics, Penguin, Simon & Schuster, Atria, Macmillan/Tor, HarlequinTeen UK, Random House, Beth Revis & Netgalley for these awesome, awesome books and swag!!!

Wow.  I actually managed not to purchase a single book this week!  But those gift cards are burning holes in my pocketbook, so don't expect that to last long.  Lol.  :D

  6. I have both The Nightmare Affair (which has a gorgeous cover) and The Sea of Tranquility for review also! I've heard so many wonderful things about the latter. And the cover for Dare To You is sexy. ;) Amazing haul as always and I hope you enjoy all your goodies, Jen!

  7. The Sea of Tranquility is one of the most beautiful books I've ever, ever read. I hope you love it too. Katja deserves a special place for writing Josh Bennett and Drew Leighton. Perfect.
I've had The Sweetest Dark for ages. Nothing like procrastination!

    Enjoy the goodies, Jen!

  8. I'm eager to see what you think of The Sea of Tranquility. I've heard great things about it as well, but I'm not sure yet if I should pick it up. I'm dying to read Dare You To - gotta see Beth's deal! :)

  9. Dare You To?! Agh. So jealous. And I'm looking forward to seeing your thoughts on The Sea of Tranquility. I've heard a ton of great things about it, but the synopsis hasn't really been doing anything for me. So I'll just have dive in and see what happens.

  11. Great haul! At the moment I'm debating with myself whether I should read The Pledge or Insurgent first :P I got The Sea of Tranquility a while back, also because of all those reviews of people who simply fell it love with it! And well... no words needed for Dare You To ;)
I'm also on the Nightmare Affair tour, but I'm getting worried because I haven't received my review copy yet :/ Did you get it via email or did you have to request it on NetGalley? I got emailed a while back, but then the ARC distribution was pushed back... but I never heard from that publicist again... How did that work for you?
