So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit. I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff: stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog. Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things. Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore. April's also doing her own Stacking the Shelves posts on Sundays. Stop by and say hi! =)
So…I didn't intend to take a break right after April announced her own hiatus from the blog, but some health issues kept me from doing just about everything last week into this week. I couldn't concentrate. I couldn't eat. And I definitely couldn't blog. But I'm doing a lot better now and it turns out it wasn't as serious as first thought, so I'm in much better spirits, too. And ya know, sometimes being under the weather is a good thing because now I'm mostly caught up on my shows and I got some serious pleasure reading done. :D
Anyway, here's what I scored this week:
For Review:
A Girl Undone by Catherine Linka - This sounds like an interesting series, but I didn't read the first book. Soooo…if someone wants this finished copy, just let me know. I'd hate to let a good book go to waste. :)
Traded/Gifted:
My Maggie Stiefvater collection is coming along nicely, thanks to #booksfortrade!!! I'm only missing an ARC of Linger, which seems to be the most elusive of all Maggie ARCs. Other than that, I can procure the other editions I covet from overseas booksellers.
Library:
Nevermore and Enshadowed by Kelley Creagh - For once, I held off starting a series until I could read all three books back-to-back. I've had a review copy of the final book in my possession for months now, so it's time. I also have finished copies of these books on my shelf, but they're humongous, and I've found it a lot easier to sneak in reading when I'm not supposed to be reading when I have a library copy I can read anywhere, lol.
Purchased:
Uprooted by Naomi Novik - Loved this one SO much and was so happy to find a signed copy for my shelves.
Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo - I don't know why I never purchased the special edition, but it just occurred to me to do so last week. And now my shelves are ever so happy to have a complete collection of these books.
Freebies:
I grabbed this week's SYNC audiobooks, and I can't wait to start them! You can find out more on how to download them for free yourselves below. :)
So, that's my haul. :) How about you? What did you get this week?
The Week in Review:
Reviews:
No reviews this week because I was dealing with some health issues and couldn't concentrate enough to get anything posted, but I'll have some for a couple of books I really loved next week.
Current Giveaways:
Check back soon!
Promotional/Discussion Posts:
- Taking a Break, in which April decides a hiatus might be best for her right now
- #WoW - When We Collided by Emery Lord
- SYNC Week #5 featuring The Living and A Perfect Storm
- Reading at the Kids Table - Blog Tour for #NinjaBunny featuring an interview with the author/illustrator
Jen's Currently Reading/Listening To:
I forgot I had the audio for review, but I couldn't figure out what to listen to next the other day and started it and it is really awesome. I love the narrator and I'm reminded why I loved The Program so much. Young just creates these really strange psychological scenarios and I can't get enough of them, apparently.

I am loving this book so hard! I can't believe I managed to hold off reading this series until I could read all three books together, but I am super glad I did! So different and SO good.

Glad to hear you're feeling better! I love Maggie Stiefvater! I have all of her books except The Dream Thieves and Blue Lily Lily Blue on my bookshelf. Those ended up on my kindle. It kind of bugs me not to have the same format..but I'll live. Being sick definitely does lend to plenty of time watching TV and reading. Hope you have a better week this week though!

Nevermore and Enshadowed are upcoming reads for me too, for the same reason! I read Nevermore a couple years ago and really liked it, so I'm excited for the reread. I hope you enjoy them :D
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed The Living, hope you do as well. Will be waiting to see your review of Dream a Little Dream.
