Author: Kathleen Peacock
Series: Hemlock, book #2

Publication Date: September 10, 2013

Mac can’t lose another friend. Even if he doesn’t want to be found.

The ripple effect caused by Mac’s best friend Amy’s murder has driven Mac’s new love, Kyle, to leave Hemlock and disappear from her life forever. But Mac knows that Kyle plans to enroll in a rehabilitation camp, where he can live with other werewolves. She refuses to accept his decision, especially since the camps are rumored to be tortuous. So she sets out in search of Kyle with a barely sober Jason—and Amy’s all-seeing ghost—in tow.

Clues lead Mac to find Kyle in a werewolf den in Colorado—but their reunion is cut short by a Tracker raid. Now Mac and Kyle are trapped inside the electric fences of Thornhill, a camp for young werewolves. As she devises an escape plan, Mac uncovers dangerous secrets buried within the walls of Thornhill—and realizes that the risk to the people she loves is greater than ever before.

Why I'm waiting:  So, I really miss Veronica Mars.  And Hemlock really gave me that vibe, as noted in my review.  Jen over at YA Romantics told me that she'd heard Unraveling had a VM feel to it, too, awhile back.  I finally read/listened to that one recently, and yeah, it had some sleuthing going for it, but it still wasn't what I was craving.  (Though, don't get me wrong...it was a phenomenal read.  My review goes up later today, if you're curious.)

I know Thornhill will probably take a completely different direction than Hemlock, but I'm still pretty excited about where it's headed.  A werewolf rehab camp?  Searching for a boy who doesn't want to be found with the guy who was previously his best friend...and, oh yeah, just happens to also be in love with you?  Good times ahead, methinks.

What are you waiting on this week?  Feel free to share it in the comments or leave a link so I can stop by!

  9. LOL, I think that's how we met, bonding over books that gave us that VM vibe. And Hemlock definitely did that for me, even more so than Unraveling. I'm very excited about this one!

  14. I haven't read Hemlock yet, but it's been on my list for forever! I'll really have to look into it soon...
And that cover is just as pretty as the last one! Even without seeing the author's name, I would have immediately recognized the style and known that it's the sequel ^^ Great pick!
