The Weekend Update - 10.17.15

Saturday, October 17, 2015 with 10 comments
So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit.  I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff: stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog.  Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things.  Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore.  April's also doing her own Stacking the Shelves posts on Sundays.  Stop by and say hi!  =)

Well, we're all moved in to the new house. Er, well...our stuff's all there, at any rate. I'm hoping to have the place all set up by the time the weekend is over, though. Especially since we have family coming to visit next weekend. o_O But this is Katie's bye week for soccer, so that helps...not having a game at noon, right in the middle of the day when you're trying to get something accomplished. :P If all goes as planned, I hope to share some pictures of the finished product on Instagram later.  :D

Needless to say, I haven't gotten much reading done in the past couple of weeks. I've kind of stalled on Dreamstrider, though that's due in no part to the book. I actually can't wait to get back to it. The hubby is going hunting first thing in the a.m. so I think I'll take the opportunity to relax for the first time in weeks. And by relax, I mean sit out in the backyard with a cup of coffee and a good book. =)

It was kind of quiet around the blog this week, with only a few posts going up, but it was a good week, bookishly speaking. And for all of you who can't believe that I only just started watching Supernatural recently...I can't believe it either, but I'm also super glad to be able to binge-watch TEN seasons of it! Better late than never, I always say. :)

Anyway, here's what I scored this week...

For Review:

SOOOO much awesome in my mailbox this week:

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken thanks to Disney-Hyperion and Big Honcho Media
Truthwitch by Susan Dennard courtesy of Dawn & Elise
Sing Down the Stars by L.J. Hatton (Josin L. McQuein) thanks to the author
Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum courtesy of Random House

Library:

Firewalker (Worldwalker, #2)

I had an ARC of Firewalker and totally planned on getting to it...eventually...but then I started hearing some less-than-positive feedback and I moved it down my pile. My library just got it in on audio, so I DLed that, and it wasn't horrible. But it did feel a lot like a repeat of the first book, with Lily collecting Mechanics again, but from her own world this time around.

Purchased:

The Immortal Heights (The Elemental Trilogy, #3)Ice Like Fire (Snow Like Ashes, #2)

Even with the ARCs in my possession, I didn't get to these pre-release, so I purchased the audio. Splendid idea. LOVED The Immortal Heights...so hard. It is fabulously narrated, but I already knew that from my re-read/listen to the previous books. :P I'm in the middle of Ice Like Fire, but it's going well.

So, that's my haul. =) What did the bookmail faeries bring you this week?

Currently Reading:

DreamstriderYep, I'm still reading this. Sort of. I just haven't had much time to physically read these last couple of weeks, what with the move and all. But I do plan to make some time to finish this book this weekend. Hopefully.

Currently Listening:

Ice Like Fire (Snow Like Ashes, #2)I thought about re-reading Snow Like Ashes first, but I've already read it twice, and I remember everything from it pretty well. There isn't a whole lot of refresher, though, so someone who hasn't read the first book in a year or so might want to. But basically, you just need to remember that they're trying to put this girl into a dress and make her behave queenly now. *tsk, tsk*

Truthwitch has of course been getting some crazy great reviews. I just bought Snow Like Ashes on my ereader a couple of days ago, so I'm glad to see you are enjoying the sequel.

  10. So jealous of all the Passenger packages everyone is getting! My reading time has been less lately as well. I've gotten more "reading" done by listening to an audio book in my car going all the places I've had to go lately. And I love the cover of Tell Me Three Things. It makes me want some waffles.
    Check out my Sunday Post
