We are SUPER excited to look back on 2014 with the ladies from Reading YA RocksTwo Chicks on BooksMagical Urban Fantasy Reads, and Tales of a Ravenous Reader. They've put together a blog hop of sorts, looking back on the books we read in 2014 and looking forward to the ones we'll read in 2015. They've got some fun topics lined up, but today's is the TOP 10 BOOKS I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2015. (You can check out the full week's line-up here.)

Jen's Picks:

There are SOOOOO many 2015 titles that I'm already eagerly anticipating. This post could easily be called the Top Hundred Books I'm looking forward to. I mean, seriously. :) I'm actually already nearing the end of ACOTAR, but with the holidays, I've had much less time to read. :( Hoping to finish it tonight and start on one of my other top picks for 2015. =)

April's Picks:

I shouldn't even be grabby hands for any new books, because I have so many old books I need to read. Alas, I cannot help my wants. And these books I really really want!!!!! Especially Golden Son. I would do just about anything to get my hands on that one.

Top Ten of 2014: Best Villains of 2014

Wednesday, December 24, 2014 with 5 comments

We are SUPER excited to look back on 2014 with the ladies from Reading YA RocksTwo Chicks on BooksMagical Urban Fantasy Reads, and Tales of a Ravenous Reader. They've put together a blog hop of sorts, looking back on the books we read in 2014 and looking forward to the ones we'll read in 2015. They've got some fun topics lined up, but today's is the BEST ______ OF 2014. (You can check out the full week's line-up here.) Our options for this topic were Villains, Contemporaries, Dual POV’s, Novellas, Adult titles, New Adult titles, Love Triangles, Couples, Bad Boys or Debuts. The moment we all saw villains in that list, we knew which direction Jen was headed. :P

Jen's Picks:

Disclaimer: Some of these picks may showcase the progression of a particular character that may or may not have already been obvious.

I just love a good villain, especially when they prove themselves especially redeemable. :) But they don't have to be good to be oh-so-bad. Some of these characters I'm still waiting to see where their character arc leads them, but others, I'm quite happy with where they're at now. Villains are among some of my favorite characters because when they're done right, they are oh-so-deliciously evil, and that's the way I like them. ;0)

April's Picks:

I could only come up with Five. And really the first one doesn't count, he's just dreamy. And maybe The last one is a far stretch, but it's by far the scariest villian I've come across this year. Why? Because it's real.

Top Ten of 2014: Best Book Covers of 2014

Jen's Picks:

I've read all of these and think they'd just look absolutely lovely hanging on my wall. I think that's what makes them my favorite covers of 2014: they're beautiful enough to be hung up as artwork. I love that April and I have quite a few in common, too. =)

April's Picks:

I haven't read all of these yet, but I have purchased or requested all of them, simply because... Ahhh those covers!

We are SUPER excited to look back on 2014 with the ladies from Reading YA Rocks, Two Chicks on Books, Magical Urban Fantasy Reads, and Tales of a Ravenous Reader. They've put together a blog hop of sorts, looking back on the books we read in 2014 and looking forward to the ones we'll read in 2015. They've got some fun topics lined up, but today's is the BEST BOOKS I'VE READ IN 2014. (You can check out the full week's line-up here.) Since we focused on new releases on last week's Top Ten Tuesday, we thought we'd go with the top ten best contemporary novels we read in 2014 for this exercise. =)

Jen's Picks:

Luckily, I read way more sci-fi and fantasy than I do contemporary, so I had a pretty easy time deciding on my favorites of 2014. I am slowly reading more and more contemporary, though, and even venturing into some authors' backlists to find new favorites. I've already read one 2015 contemporary title and it was amazing, so I have a feeling doing this list at the end of next year might be a bit more difficult. =)

April's Picks:

I've read a ton of great contemporaries this year. I would have to say that Morgan Matson takes the cake though, because I really wanted to add Amy and Roger's Epic Detour as well, but we will just consider it an honorable mention. :)

Most of these books made my cry... I should mention that as well. lol.
