Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the awesome ladies at The Broke and the Bookish. Apparently, they are overly fond of list-making and love to share their bookish lists with the rest of us book nerds.  =) We're game.

This week's topic is the Ten Books For Readers Who Like ___________:
April and I have been friends for just about four years now, and she's been such an awesome one at that, so I wanted to focus on that for this freebie topic. :D (Technically, I'm on vacation right now, so I picked this topic ahead of time without consulting April, but c'mon...who doesn't love a good friendship book? Though, I'm sure some of our favorites overlap because we have such similar taste in books.)

April's Picks:

Here are my top five that I can think of at the Moment. Maybe One Day is such a fantastic book about friendship. And Just Listen, isn't all about friendship, there are some deeper issues going on too. Vampire Academy.. Well Rose and Lissa's friendship is classic I think. And Jellicoe Road.. it's weird at first..but I the friendships you read about in this book will warm your heart. The Summer Series by Jenny Han is a fave of mine. These childhood friends go through so much together over the years. <3

Yay for friendship books! And Jen is a pretty awesome friend too. <3 I laughed when I hopped in here to add my picks and saw her first paragraph. She's the sweetest. :)

Jen's Picks:

So, I really like a book that focuses on friendship, whether it be a rocky one, one that progresses over the course of the story, or one that's old (but maybe broken?). I also love friends-to-lovers romances, but that's a topic for another day. Friends go through so much -- together and separately -- and I love a story that delves into such an important relationship.

This week's list features the Top Ten Books About Friendship:

April's picks:

Maybe One DayVampire AcademyOpen Road SummerRoomiesOn The Fence

Maybe One Day is truly about friendship. Probably one of the best friendship books I've ever read. Ahh, but then there is the Vampire Academy, and Rose and Lissa, they are tight. Rose would do anything for her. Open Road Summer, *sigh*, I wish I was best friends with a famous country star. Traveling the country in an RV sounds way more appealing then every day life. lol. Also I picked roomies, because even though they don't physically meet till the end of the book, it's very much centered on building a friendship, so that things aren't awkward when they start rooming together. Now On The Fence is a bit of a stretch, but it's fresh on my mind because Jen and I just read it last week. (It's Amazing!!!) Anyway, it's about romance.. but a budding romance from a long standing friendship. Those are kind of the best I think. :)

Jen's picks:

I agree, best friend romances are the best! I've read all but one of April's picks, and I kind of have to agree that they all belong on this list...especially Open Road Summer. That one should be on my list for sure. It's kinda sad, but I don't have all that many books on my shelf with the tag "friends" or some other derivative. Regardless, here's what I came up with:

Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1)Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1)FangirlPivot Point (Pivot Point, #1)Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)

I adore the friendship between Karou and Zuzana in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. I actually think I loved Zuz more than Karou sometimes...if not just for her funny witticisms but also for her ferociousness as Karou's best friend. I also really appreciated the platonic friendship that developed between Aria and Roar in the Under the Never Sky books. I'm so elated that the author took the direction she did with those two. And it was obvious to me that they'd become friends eventually, but I was glad to see Cath and Reagan find their happy medium in Fangirl. Actually, they might be my favorite friendship out of the bunch because of how incompatible they were to begin with. Now, Addie and Laila from Pivot Point...there's a dynamic duo. I loved how, despite what happened in the first book, and their separation in the second novel, they remained besties. But best of all is the friendship in the Harry Potter series...Harry, Ron and Hermione. Such a sense of togetherness, such fierce determination to always lend a hand. It doesn't get better than that. =)

Zoe and her best friend, Olivia, have always had Big Plans: They'll tour the world as prima ballerinas and live in a swanky Manhattan apartment (where they'll hang out with their fabulous boyfriends, of course). But when they're cut from the ballet company, their plans for the future evaporate. Suddenly, Zoe's dodging cheerleaders who want her and Olivia to go out for the squad, and Olivia's got a crush on Calvin Taylor, who Zoe can't stand.

Zoe can't imagine anything worse happening . . . until Olivia gets sick. Really sick. Suddenly, not being able to dance is the least of their problems.

Olivia has always been the nice one, the happy-go-lucky one. Zoe has always been the snarky one, the look-on-the-dark-side one. But when your best friend is in the hospital, you better learn to step up fast. Now Zoe needs to put on a brave face and be the positive one. Even when Zoe isn't sure what to say. Even when Olivia misses months of school. Even when Zoe starts falling for Calvin.

The one thing that keeps Zoe moving forward is knowing that Olivia will beat this thing, and everything will go back to the way it was before. It has to. Because the alternative is too terrifying for Zoe to even imagine.

Not too long ago, I saw April at Good Books and Good Wine review Maybe Someday. I hadn’t heard of it before, but I knew from reading her review that I would love it. I figured I would try the audio since I didn’t know when I would be able to get to it otherwise. April did not steer me wrong, I really loved this book.

Zoe and Olivia are best friends. More than best friends, they are more like family. They grew up together, built their dreams around each other. They always imagined the worst thing that would happen to them, is not dancing anymore. That was, until Olivia is diagnosed with Leukemia.

I know, I know… another cancer book. But it’s a friendship book too. It’s not all doom and gloom, though it mostly is, so be prepared. (tissues are a must) Zoe and Olivia’s relationship was so beautiful. It was! Anyone lucky enough to have that kind of friendship with someone better hold on tight. These two made me laugh constantly, but in the next moment, they could yank my heart strings and tears would be rolling down my face.

Zoe is sarcastic, difficult, and a bit of a bitch sometimes. She owns it though and she showed a lot of growth through-out the book. There were times that she made me so angry but I loved her. Her devotion to Olivia made it impossible not to. Olivia, she’s the sweetest character, she really is, and I felt horrible for all she was going through.

There is a little bit of romance, but it’s not the main focus. Zoe can’t think let alone handle much more than being there for Olivia. But Calvin, he was just awesome. He’s such a nice guy. He really is, and I’m a sucker for nice guys. There is one scene between them that is absolutely smoldering.

The Narrator, Shannon McManus, I was tossed at first. This being my second Audio book, I don’t have much to go by so initially I found her voice to be a little annoying. By the end of the story though, I had fallen in love with her voice. When she read the cheerleader parts, I laughed. I mean really laughed, she mocks them so well. She really did fit Zoe perfectly. She fit this book perfectly, at least for me she did. I’d listen to audio by her again.

The main thing that you need to know is that you will probably cry!

And if not you are cold and heartless!! Just kidding, but seriously, there are some tear jerking scenes. They won't make everyone cry, but I couldn't hold it bad. And as sad is this book was, I still felt good after reading/listening to it. Maybe One day might make it into my top ten this year, that’s how much I enjoyed this one.
