So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit. I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff: stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog. Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things. Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore. April's also doing her own Stacking the Shelves posts on Sundays. Stop by and say hi! =)
Soooo busy right now with what everyone in the family's got going on -- school, soccer, the beginning of hunting season -- but surprisingly, I've found time to read some really good books lately. :) Katie's very first soccer game is today, so I'll have some pictures from that later. It's an afternoon game, so we're lucky that a cold front came through on Thursday. It was 101° on Wednesday, but it's only supposed to be in the mid-70s today. FINALLY! A break from the heat! And that means it's almost time to pull out all our spooky reads! I am so excited!
Anyway, here's what I scored this week:
For Review:
ARCs/finished copies
Every Breath by Ellie Marney - finished copy for tour, very excited to start this Sherlock-y story! And it's an Aussie author...feels like I can never go wrong with those!
Netgalley/Edelweiss
Death Date/When by Victoria Laurie - on GR, it's still Death Date; on NG, it's called When...either way, it sounds fantastic...I love countdown-type stories!
audiobooks
California by Edan Lepucki - hadn't heard of this before but then I saw some positive reviews and added it to my TBR; now that I have a copy though, I've seen some not-so-stellar reviews...maybe the audio version will be better?
So, that's my haul. How about you? What did you get this week?
The Week in Review:
Reviews:
- Falling into Place (April)
- Unteachable - audio (Jen)
- Adrenaline Crush (Jen)
- The Golden Lily - audio (April)
Current Giveaways:
Promotional/Discussion Posts:
- Underrated Contemporary Reads - the top ten YA contemporary reads we loved that don't get enough attention
- Waiting on Wednesday - this week we're waiting on The Dark Water & Hold Me Like a Breath
- Our Fall TV Lineup - what we'll be watching this fall between books =D
I've been hearing the best things about Marie Lu's newest novel, and I'm finally getting to my ARC. It's one of those that I expect to finish in one sitting...if people will just leave me alone for a few hours! :D
What if Sherlock Holmes was the boy next door? Yeah, what if?!? That'd seriously be awesome. I have no doubt that I'm going to love this one. I love detective-type mysteries and this one sounds like a lot of fun.

YAY FOR AUSSIE AUTHORS! I actually won that one but I still haven't read it. >_< I read waaaay more American authors than I do Aussie. Which I feel kind of bad about sometimes. ;-) Still I love a good Sherlock tale, so I'll try to get onto that one ASAP. I hope you like The Young Elites! Can't wait to know what you think. My Stacking the Shelves!
ReplyDeleteI actually really want to read California! I love the story behind how the book was boosted a bit after being mentioned by Stephen Colbert and I've heard that it deserved the boost! Plus the cover is really neat. I hope you enjoy it. (:
ReplyDeleteDeath date sounds interesting. I am pretty sure I haven't heard of it before.
ReplyDeleteYou have an interesting collection here, can't wait to see what you think.

I've started TYE and want to get back to it but I've had to put it on hold for ARCs releasing soon. I want to read it so badly. I hope Katie's soccer game went well! That cold front is amazing. I wish it could last.
ReplyDeleteYAY soccer! My favorite sport :D Hope everything is going well so far. I totally entered your TYE giveaway, *crosses fingers* - I've already read TYE, but your giveaway is fab! And I can't wait to see what you think of Snow Like Ashes - I'm reading it next week! I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

I enjoyed Death Date. It was a fun mystery although a bit predictable. I wanted a bit more romance too but still good. I just read Legend and am reading Prodigy. The series is great so far.
ReplyDeleteI just have to tell you how much I love your blogs layout. I love the fonts at the top and the whole starry theme. It is so well put together. When(or Death date) looks like a good read. I am gonna have to come back here to read your review. Great haul this week!
