Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the awesome ladies at The Broke and the Bookish. Apparently, they are overly fond of list-making and love to share their bookish lists with the rest of us book nerds. =) We're game.
This week's topic is a FREEBIE, so our list features the Top Ten Books That Were Recommended To Us...For Better or For Worse:
April's picks:
The first three, Angelfall, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, and The Sky is Everywhere were all recommended to me by Jen! I'm always turned off by angel books but she insisted that I would love those two and she was right. The Sky is Everywhere was my first Audio book, and I told her to pick it out for me. She did good. :)
Hopeless was recommended to me by my friend Autumn, and our tastes don't always jive, but in this case, they did. :) The Host, my friend Jackie told me I should give it a try and it's now one of my favs.
Jen's picks:
These first few had been recommended to me time and again by several different people, and I kept putting them off because I hadn't hit my stride with contemporary young adult novels yet. But these all did the trick once I finally acquiesced and gave them a chance. And now they're absolute favorites, ones that I recommend over and over again to friends and random strangers. =)
I can't wait for Jandy Nelson's new novel, especially after the love-fest I had with The Sky is Everywhere. And I'm so glad I read The Fault in Our Stars so I can see the movie when it's released next week!
Kristen at My Friends Are Fiction recommended the following books to me earlier this year and I will forever trust her because they were both epic reads. I want the sequels stat.
My good friend Emily at Book Jems went on ad nauseam about this book, so I finally gave in and read it. And promptly loved it. It's written under Diana Peterfreund's pseudonym, too!
Heather from The Flyleaf Review was so eager for me to read this next book that she even lent me her copy, and I loved the girl power elements even more than I expected to.
And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the two that April's rec'd to me on more than one occasion, even going so far as to gift me with her copies...which I've still yet to read. o_O It's probably time I remedied that, especially with all the love this author gets from my fellow readers.
What are your favorite/least favorite books that were recommended to you? :) Share the link to you TTT post so we can visit!
I recommend books to my sister aaaall the time....and she usually ignores me. x) I think it's a sisterly thing. We hold out on each other's recs for as long as we can in case we have to admit each other is right about a really good book. lol! SISTERS. I've been recommended Cruel Beauty SO much and now I've finally borrowed it from the library! I'm excited to see what happens. :)
ReplyDeleteI would so recommend that everyone reads Daughter of Smoke and Bone and The Fault in Our Stars. They were such fantastic book!
ReplyDeleteGreat recommendation ladies :)
the Fault In Our Stars is an amazing choice, it was recommended to me by my sister and is definitely one of my favourites too! Great topic choice and picks :)

Katrina @ Chased By My Imagination
My best friend lent me a copy of Number9dream and I completely devoured it!
ReplyDelete- Ellie of The Reading Slump
Great post, I love this idea! I haven't been properly recommended anything in so long - I self-recommend from all the blogs I read I guess. Some titles on here I've been dying to read that are on the never-ending TBR list thought.

Ahh! Jellicoe Road is getting closer to the top of my TBR pile. Sara @ The Hiding Spot has insisted so often that I MUST read it, that I finally bought a copy. A Mad Wicked Folly is one of my all time favorites forever and I adored The Winner's Curse. Also, I finally got around to reading The Fault in our Stars and I'm so glad I did. There are so many good books on your lists ladies! <3
ReplyDeleteI haven't read a few of these! I need to update my list!
ReplyDeleteI still need to read The Sky is Everywhere! I've heard great things about One & Only as well, so I just may need to get a copy if that too. And of course nothing but love for Tracey Garvis Graves. :)
