So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit. I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff: stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog. Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things. Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore. April's also doing her own Stacking the Shelves posts on Sundays. Stop by and say hi! =)
Not only did our blog celebrate its 3rd birthday this week -- with a ton of giveaways, I might add -- but I celebrated my birthday on Thursday, too! I haven't managed to spend my gift cards on books yet, but I fully expect next week's haul to be full of books from birthday money. =) For now, I'm spending the weekend catching up on some review books and much-needed sunshine.
Anyway, here's what I scored this week:
Exquisite Captive by Heather Demetrios - Yay for a fantasy novel from the author of Something Real
Forbidden by Kimberly Griffiths Little
Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch
Stray by Elissa Sussman
The Warrior by Victoria Scott - received a 2nd copy so expect a giveaway soon! :D
Kiss Kill Vanish by Jessica Martinez
Beware the Wild by Natalie C. Parker
Blackbird by Anna Carey
Even in Paradise by Chelsey Philpot
Firebug by Lish McBride
Yes, I may have gone a bit overboard on Edelweiss again. I regret nothing. Lots of awesome new reads this week, courtesy of Harper, Entangled & Macmillan!
Gifted:
Bright Before Sunrise & Send Me a Sign by Tiffany Schmidt - April got me signed copies from YA Fest
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han boxed set - April's note says "Because you need this set. ♥"
Isn't April the best!?! And Tiffany Schmidt, too...look at those awesome birthday doodles! Such an amazing birthday present from the best co-blogger a girl could ask for!
Library:
The Elite by Kiera Cass (audio) - Ugh. Terrible but addictive. It is what it is. :( At least I'm not spending hard-earned cash on the series, though.
Reviews:
- The Well's End - audio (April)
- The Wizard's Promise (Jen)
- The Scorpio Races - audio (April)
- The Art of Lainey (Jen)
Promotional/Discussion Posts: Like, Try, Why - If you like X movie or TV show, we think you'd like X book.
Jen's Currently Reading/Listening To:
April said she's probably taking On the Fence with her on her cruise to Bermuda, so I figured I'd read it while she's gone so we can discuss it when she gets back. I've been putting it off for as long as I can, but I'm ready for another Kasie West book -- even if it means I have to wait that much longer for the next one. :(
I thought Rachel Hawkins' HEX HALL books were super cute and fun, so I've pretty much resolved myself to read everything she writes. I didn't get my hands on an advance copy of this one like I'd hoped, but I was 2nd on the list for the audio at the library! =)

Ohhh, all those pretty and gorgeous books LOVE the covers. Just intense cover-love happening over here, 'scuse me. Haha! But I knoooow what you mean about The Selection series. With all The One hype happening, I feel like reading The Elite. I enjoyed book #1 but it was just a bit so-so. But now I want to know what happens. ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat haul, Jen. I'm insanely jealous of your On the Fence copy. I hope it's as wonderful as everyone's predicting it to be. Congratulations on your anniversary! And Happy Birthday. :)
ReplyDeleteNice you got Snow Like Ashes! I'm dying to read that one :) Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read Kiss Kill Vanish and Blackbird. Edelweiss was being weird and wouldn't let me submit a review request no matter how many times I tried. So I guess, I'll just be waiting for it to be released in the Fall. I hope you enjoy all your new reads! & Happy belated birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteAdore signed books and Blackbird sounds so good.
ReplyDeleteSeems like everyone got Ashes in The Snow this week. It has such a beautiful cover. Come visit me as well.

Books of Love
Harper Teen is awesome! I love how they mass upload e-ARCs and everyone goes crazy for them. I'm looking forward to reading Exquisite Captive. That one sounds great.
ReplyDeleteThat was sweet of Tiffany Schmidt to send you a signed copy of her book.
I hope you enjoy your reads this week! :)
Nick - My Haul
Rebel Belle is really fun. I should finish that one next week. I keep having to stop and read tour books. Looks like you've been super busy! I always love seeing all those Harper Collins books pop up on Edelweiss!!! :) Here's my STS.
ReplyDeleteLOL I feel the same way about The Selection and The Elite. I only scanned The Selection but I actually read all the way through the Elite. America and Maxon are both so annoying and it's bad but like a soap opera where it is still somehow addicting. I got them from the library as well. Gorgeous covers but not worth buying. Excited for The Warrior.
ReplyDeleteI requested Snow Like Ashes; I'm dying to get approved!!! I hope it happens! I've been wondering about Beware the Wild; though I don't know anything about it, the cover AND title are very appealing. I hope you enjoy ALL the books though! Looking forward to your thoughts on Rebel Belle. I'm wavering on whether to check it out or not. Your thoughts will help me decide! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!! And awesome haul, both Stray and Even in Paradise sound fantastic!

I went a little crazy on Edelweiss this week and got some of the ones you mentioned too... lol I'm excited to finally start Meridian soon, it's up next after The Art of Lainey. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday and blogoversary! I'm so jealous of Firebug and Snow Like Ashes. I hope you love them! My STS
