Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books. Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures that only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive.

Last summer, Mackenzie Bishop, a Keeper tasked with stopping violent Histories from escaping the Archive, almost lost her life to one. Now, as she starts her junior year at Hyde School, she's struggling to get her life back. But moving on isn't easy -- not when her dreams are haunted by what happened. She knows the past is past, knows it cannot hurt her, but it feels so real, and when her nightmares begin to creep into her waking hours, she starts to wonder if she's really safe.

Meanwhile, people are vanishing without a trace, and the only thing they seem to have in common is Mackenzie. She's sure the Archive knows more than they are letting on, but before she can prove it, she becomes the prime suspect. And unless Mac can track down the real culprit, she'll lose everything, not only her role as Keeper, but her memories, and even her life. Can Mackenzie untangle the mystery before she herself unravels?

With stunning prose and a captivating mixture of action, romance, and horror, The Unbound delves into a richly imagined world where no choice is easy and love and loss feel like two sides of the same coin.
My teasers:
"I shuffle through my backpack and dig out a Sharpie and a scrap of paper and write my number on it. "Here. Take it. Text me," I say, trying to make it as clear as possible that this is a here's-my-number-civic-duty and not a here's-my-number-call-me-hot-stuff kind of situation."

- Loc 1461, 38% of galley
and
"What?  Thought you'd play Sherlock and solve it yourself?  That was a goddamn closed crime scene, young lady."

- Loc 1784, 47% of galley

First, I couldn't help myself...this book is so good I had to share two teasers.  My apologies.  :P  And Mac sure does get herself into some situations.  She's got herself quite a few gentleman suitors in this book, and it sounds like she's bitten off more than she can chew this time around.

I'm empathizing hard-core with Mackenzie in this sequel. Not that I didn't feel for her in The Archived, but after everything she's survived, things seem even worse for her now. Really hoping this one doesn't end on a cliffy.  :(  Also, gorgeous cover is gorgeous!

  8. The teasers are interesting...but I find the cover really freaky! Sorry! Hello there...I'm here from Ann's Reading Corner. Ann posted a teaser from my memoir and I wanted to stop by and say thank you for taking the time to comment!

  9. Oh no! I was hoping for more Wes and less other guys - that was the thing I liked least about The Archived. I wanted to strangle her for Owen (maybe not his name?). I'm excited for this book, but I'm not reading it get crazy triangley! You need to give me the rundown. But I love Schwab's writing, but the fact that you're sympathizing with her is good!
