The Weekend Update - 5.9.15

So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit.  I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff: stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog.  Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things.  Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore.  April's also doing her own Stacking the Shelves posts on Sundays.  Stop by and say hi!  =)
I plan to go see my mama this weekend and then I plan to be lazy the rest of it. :D It's supposed to be stormy, too, so I'll just move my hammock under the awning of the deck and hope that the rain isn't too bad. It's tornado season in our neck of the woods, though, so you never know. We've had a lot of "duck and cover" situations lately, though luckily none of them have been too eventful. Mostly just high winds which means our power's out a lot. Good thing I keep my Kindle charged! :P

Anyway, here's what I scored this week:

For Review/Gifted/Traded:

PersuasionThe Remedy (The Program, #0.5)Black Iris

Persuasion by Martina Boone - I really enjoyed the first book, a Southern gothic piece full of magic and mischief.

The Remedy by Suzanne Young (audio) - I love that this is a prequel to The Program and The Treatment! That series was awesome.

Black Iris by Leah Raeder (audio) - I enjoyed Unteachable much more than I expected to, and this one sounds just as out of my comfort zone, so I'm sure to be equally impressed by it.

Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman - super curious about this one!

The Wrath & the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh - I've heard nothing but good things, though since the book releases on Tuesday, I think I'm just going to wait for the audio...I think it'll be even better!

Sugar by Deirdre Riordan Hall - unsolicited, don't really know anything about this book

Salt & Storm by Kendall Kulper - loved this woeful tale so I traded for an ARC

Seeker by Arwen Elys Dayton - another great read that I traded for

Library:

The Girl at Midnight (The Girl at Midnight, #1)

The Girl at Midnight by Melissa Grey - I started my eARC of this last month or maybe even in March but I couldn't get into it, so I waited for the audio. It was way better, especially with the venerable Julia Whelan at the helm.

Purchased:

Getting Lucky Number SevenSay Yes to the Marquess (Castles Ever After, #2)

Getting Lucky Number Seven by Cindi Madsen - apparently, I am a sucker for Kindle daily deals now, lol, but this one sounded cute and fun

Say Yes to the Marquess by Tessa Dare - same deal...very intrigued by this one and hoping I don't need to have read the first book...it didn't sound like it, anyway.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas - already read and GIFfy reviewed ACOTAR, but I had to have a gorgeous finished copy. And I really wanted to re-read it once that came in, but I don't have the time for that, so I DLed the audio. Some books you just need in ALL the formats. :D

So, that's my haul. :) How about you? What did you get this week?

Jen's Currently Reading/Listening To:

Black IrisHold Me Like a Breath (Once Upon a Crime Family, #1)I had meant to start this on my Friday off last week, but I cracked open Unrooted first and that was kind of it. I got lost in that story and couldn't pull myself out until it was over. I'm hoping for the same kind of thing here, with this Princess and the Pea retelling featuring a mob family.

I am only just starting this, but I am excite. I really liked Unteachable, though it's premise was kind of icky to me at first. This one seems a little less so. And I love this line from the synopsis: She's going to show them all. I love revenge plots! :D
