We've all lost interest in a show before. For us, we noticed it often happens when a ship finally sails... often anticlimactically. Here are some long awaited couplings that ruined a show dynamic in a way that made us totally lose interest.
Warning...spoilers ahead if you've never seen these shows and have them on your TBW lists.
Ships We Were Sad to See Set Sail:
The tension of these two opposites always made this show such an addiction. However, once they got together, the characters changed...a lot. RIP sexual tension.
How
dare they? Honestly. They were the BEST and then they got together and the character development dissipated. And we stopped watching.
We loved
lovedloved the anticipation of this ship. It was slow but inevitable, even after that heartbreak in the beginning. But honestly, we could've waited longer. The antics of Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute,
et al., were not enough to compensate for the longing we no longer felt once Pam and Jim got their happily ever after.
Questionable Ships: Ships We Didn't Want to Set Sail For a Whole Different Reason
Rory and Dean? Eh. Rory and Jess? YAASSSSS! Rory and Logan? Nope
nopenope. We had to create a category just for this ship because we were
never waiting for it and we
did not want it. Especially in the revival...NO. Stahhhp. Buttface miscreant INDEED.
And since we're on the topic of
Gilmore Girls ships we
hate, that whole Lorelai and Christopher mess comes in close second.
Ewwwwwww. NOPE. DID. NOT. WANT.
Dammit, Christopher!
YAASSSSS, Luke!
Bonus Round: Couples Who Made a Show Even Better
LoVe was an explosive, on-again, off-again relationship that will never
not be hot. We hoped for it in the movie, we read about it in the books that followed, and now, here we are again, waiting with bated breath for the Hulu series to see how it all shakes out.
Rewind, watch and repeat because this scene will always be HOT magic and will never get old. *wipes drool from face*
Liv Moore and Chase Graves...yes, please! (Clearly, we have a thing for Jason Dohring. 😏) Also, love the show's sense of humor with these zombie names...12/10 amazzzzing. This was the sexy scene we hoped for in V Mars.
All the beautiful, off and on Luke and Lorelai moments. OTP! Even after the revival, we still want MOARRR!
Luke. CAN. WALTZ. 😍
Yes, they were on again off again champs, but this relationship is second only to the one between Lorelai and Rory.

Couples Who Ruined a Show for Us Because They Got Together

{WOW} ALEX, APPROXIMATELY by Jenn Bennett
"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's WoW selection is...
's Pick:
Author: Jenn Bennett
Series: stand-alone
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Publication Date: April 4, 2017
I absolutely adored The Anatomical Shape of a Heart when I read it last summer. It was the perfect book at the perfect time. I didn't know what to read next and I picked it up on a whim, opened to the middle and fell in love with the passage I read and knew it was going to be my next five star read...and it so was.
So, I think it's fair to say that I've got some exceedingly high expectations for Jenn Bennett's next YA novel. (I also still really, really need to check out her adult stuff.) I love the idea of a geeky online romance and a hate-to-love relationship coinciding without either of the interested parties being made awares. It just sounds like a fun, hot, adorable and problematic situation and I cannot freaking wait!!!
What are you desperately waiting for this Wednesday? Let us know in the comments or share a link to your own WoW post!

P.S. I Really Liked This Book
Author: Kasie West
Series: stand-alone
Publisher: Scholastic
Publication Date: July 26, 2016
Source: ARC received from publisher
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble
If you're looking for one of the most adorable, quirky, feel-good YA romances to come along in a good while, THIS IS YOUR BOOK. Even if I was in the worst mood ever, this book would make me smile. It's got some seriously awesome powers of cuteness, in that P.S. I Like You is kinda like the Powerpuff Girl of YA contemporary.
It's not that the secret is all that hard to figure out, but the most fun aspect of the book is watching as it all unravels, seeing how long it takes the characters themselves to figure out the mystery. I loved the back and forth of the desk writing (a thing I also loved in Plus One), using lyrics to get to know one another at first. And it's awesome that it was music that kind of brought these two odd souls together. Music should bring people together...even bitter enemies. :)
I lovelovelove hate-to-love romances. They get me every time. And the romance in P.S. I Like You is no exception. It actually reminded me a bit of The DUFF, in that it featured the ultra-hot Mr. Perfect -- who turns out to be anything but -- and the kinda dorky but lovable girl who hates his guts. Except this story is way more PG than that one, though no less worthy of the swoons. ;-)
I've loved every Kasie West book -- and I've read them all -- and one aspect I always enjoy is how she incorporates so much family into her stories. It's not just the connection between friends and love interests that she focuses on, but she also makes sure that the main character's family has a pivotal role in her life. They might be kooky or annoying, but they are there.
This book was just so freaking cute, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. The warm and fuzzies it left me with cannot be denied. (Just writing up this review has made me want to sit down and read it again!) P.S. I Love You is the pick-me-up book I never knew I needed but have always wanted.

Review: Bright Before Sunrise by Tiffany Schmidt
Author: Tiffany Schmidt
Series: stand-alone
Publisher: Walker Childrens
Publication Date: February 18, 2014

Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble
I read Send Me a Sign by Tiffany Schmidt back in 2012, and I really liked it. So I was pretty excited to see she had a new book coming out and even more excited when I was approved to read it early. I quite literally danced around my kitchen getting strange looks from my daughter.

Review: Bright Before Sunrise by Tiffany Schmidt
Author: Tiffany Schmidt
Series: stand-alone
Publisher: Walker Childrens
Publication Date: February 18, 2014

I'm a sucker for a book whose events transpire over the course of one day or night. I also like books where the two main characters start out as enemies...or at least on unfriendly terms and have to work to get into each other's good graces. Also, if I'm being completely honest here, I like books told from dual perspectives...but only when the voices sound different and unique enough to actually warrant two point-of-views.
Bright Before Sunrise has all of those things. It's also a really honest and relatable story, much like Schmidt's debut. As I said, the book is told from both Jonah and Brighton's perspectives, and each voice definitely lends something to the story, whether its Jonah's brutal honesty and cynicism or Brighton's ability to see the best and be the best in any situation. Each character just felt so genuine and conjured up images of people I knew in high school myself. They are realistic and so are their emotions and reactions. And they find themselves in situations that real teenagers would.
Aside from just being real, I also loved how opposite these two characters were, and how utterly different their lives are, though neither exactly has it easy. In the beginning, Jonah finds it difficult to tolerate Brighton and what she stands for, or what he thinks Brighton is all about anyway. And Brighton's only interest in Jonah is to get him to complete a service project so that she can win an award that her deceased father once received. Thus begins a whirlwind of a night that ends full of possibilities.
I know that falling hard for someone after only one night together would normally be considered insta-love by my own standards, but in this book, it feels more like a slow burn. Remember, these kids don't even really like each other when the story begins, but throughout a night full of normal teenage circumstances, they slowly become friends, confidantes, and something a little more. The growth these characters face, what they discover about themselves and each other...that's what those formative teenage years are for. I love how the author uses the course of one night to express how perceptions can be altered and shaped in a second, if one truly gives themselves over to it.
Everything about this novel just felt so authentic to the teenage experience, right down to the worry about getting home late at the end of the night. (Or actually, probably early morning, but you get what I'm saying.) The connection that was forged between these two characters was just beautiful and sweet, and I loved where the story ended, leaving the reader full of hope and a little wonder at what the future holds. After two solid, clever stories about real teens with real problems and real lives, I'm pretty sure I'll be reading everything Tiffany Schmidt writes for the foreseeable future. I can't wait to get my hands on Hold Me Like a Breath!
