Summer is off to a great start, so you know what that means! SYNC recently announced the list of audiobook pairings up for grabs this summer, and today kicks off week six of the program for 2016. Here's what you can grab through Wednesday of next week...for free!
This week's YA title is I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson, performed by Julia Whelan and Jesse Bernstein for Brilliance Audio.
A brilliant, luminous story of first love, family, loss, and betrayal for fans of John Green, David Levithan, and Rainbow Rowell
Jude and her twin brother, Noah, are incredibly close. At thirteen, isolated Noah draws constantly and is falling in love with the charismatic boy next door, while daredevil Jude cliff-dives and wears red-red lipstick and does the talking for both of them. But three years later, Jude and Noah are barely speaking. Something has happened to wreck the twins in different and dramatic ways . . until Jude meets a cocky, broken, beautiful boy, as well as someone else—an even more unpredictable new force in her life. The early years are Noah's story to tell. The later years are Jude's. What the twins don't realize is that they each have only half the story, and if they could just find their way back to one another, they’d have a chance to remake their world.
This radiant novel from the acclaimed, award-winning author of The Sky Is Everywhere will leave you breathless and teary and laughing—often all at once.
This week's complimentary YA title is Zac & Mia by A.J.Betts, performed by Kristin Condon and Nicholas Mondelli for Dreamscape Media.
The Fault in Our Stars meets Eleanor and Park in this tough and tender young adult novel that's a lot about love (and a little about cancer).
Winner of the 2012 Australian Text Prize
"When I was little I believed in Jesus and Santa, spontaneous combustion, and the Loch Ness monster. Now I believe in science, statistics, and antibiotics." So says seventeen-year-old Zac Meier during a long, grueling leukemia treatment in Perth, Australia. A loud blast of Lady Gaga alerts him to the presence of Mia, the angry, not-at-all-stoic cancer patient in the room next door. Once released, the two near-strangers can't forget each other, even as they desperately try to resume normal lives. The story of their mysterious connection drives this unflinchingly tough, tender novel told in two voices.
I love that both of this week's titles just look so good together, besides that their storylines compliment each other really well, too. I've read both of these novels, but I've never listened to either of them, so I'm looking forward to experiencing them in audiobook form. Especially since I love Julia Whelan's narration and I'm familiar enough with Jesse Bernstein's work to know that he probably did a great job with Noah's point-of-view in I'll Give You the Sun.
Will you be picking up either of these titles? Remember, they're only available through Wednesday, and new titles will be put up on Thursday for download. To download this week's titles, just click here to be taken to the SYNC download page.
I hope you take advantage of this program. I've been doing it for the last several years, and I've had the opportunity to listen to a ton of great audio for free. If you've never tried audiobooks before, it's a great opportunity to do so without the obligation of buying one that you might not enjoy. And if you love audiobooks, well, it's a great time to stock up on some titles you may have missed or discover new ones. Win/win. =)
Happy listening!
Waves! I just picked up Ill give you the sun via the used bookstore. I didn't even look to see what it was about. It just looked good so I snagged it. So can't wait to see your review on it.
