In My Mailbox #116

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.  It's a weekly meme where we all get to brag about the books and swag we got in the mail, for review, won in contests, etc.

Ugh, the first full week of the year is always the roughest!  I'm already counting down the days till I get another three-day weekend and then the countdown to Spring Break will officially begin.  *sigh*  It never ends...I should stop wishing my life away.  I need a job where I get paid for reading.  Then, I think I might be content.  Maybe...

Anyway, here's what I scored this week:

For Review:

Edelweiss:
Meridian (Arclight, #2)WildThe Vanishing SeasonSide Effects May VaryThe Art of LaineyRebel (Reboot, #2)The Things You Kiss GoodbyeThe Secrets of Lily Graves17 First KissesRoyally Lost
Thank you, Harper!!!
(click on the cover(s) above to be taken to the Goodreads page for each book)

Omigod, omigod!  Meridian!!!!!  I have been looking forward to this book since I first found out a sequel to Arclight existed.  I am going to have to make some room on my review schedule for that one for sure! And look at all of the other great books Harper listed on Edelweiss recently!  I love when they go crazy listing titles, but then *I* go crazy downloading them.  Oh, well...I'll never be without something to read, right?  =)

Audiobooks:
Hollow City (Miss Peregrine, #2)The Killing Woods
Thank you, Blackstone Audio & AudioGo!!!
(click on the cover(s) above to be taken to the Goodreads page for each book)

Okay, so I still have to read/listen to Miss Peregrine's first, but I am soo excited about Hollow City, especially after seeing that uber-creepy trailer.  And I loved Lucy Christopher's Stolen, and even though I've seen a lot of middling reviews for The Killing Woods, I'm still extremely excited to start it.

Purchased/Freebies:

Yay, I managed not to buy anything this week, though I do have a cart full of books over at Book Outlet.  Just waiting on the courage to press the checkout button.  o_O

So, that's my haul.  How about you?  What did you get this week?

Jen's Currently Reading/Listening To:

The Killing WoodsCruel BeautyI'm about half-way through this book, and honestly, it's stunning.  Like, I've forgotten it's a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, and I'm just along for the ride, for the mythology, and for the barbs Nyx and Ignifex hurl at each other.  =)  This is most assuredly going on my 2014 favorites list.

I haven't started this one yet, but I think it's going to be my next pick.  It sounds creepy and disturbing, and I think I'm due for that type of listen since I've been choosing lighter fare recently.  ;)

Upcoming Reviews:

No Place Like Oz (Dorothy Must Die #0.5)Lady Thief (Scarlet, #2)The Art of Falling
Unbound (All Good Things #1)Cruel BeautySempre (Forever, #1)

Rebel Spring (Falling Kingdoms, #2)

And on Tuesday, I'll have a guest post from Morgan Rhodes, author of the Falling Kingdoms books.

  3. Don't you just love EW. I'm excited to read Side Effects and the Secrets of Lily Graves. I snagged The Killing Woods from my library this week. I haven't read Stolen, but I've heard good things. I was in the mood for something a bit darker, too. I hope we both love it. Hope you're having an awesome weekend!

  5. What???How can Miss Peregrine's be an audiobook? You need the photos!!
I also downloaded some of those Harper titles too. I've been on the fence about Killing Woods so can't wait to see what you think!

  6. Great books! 17 First Kisses and The Things You Kiss Goodbye (which looks like a Jennifer E. Smith book) both look good.
    Enjoy, Jen!

  7. YES!! That's exactly how I justify my downloads from Edelweiss. I'll never NOT have something to read, so there will never be an excuse to binge watch Netflix when I should be doing something productive... like reading!

Hope you enjoy all of your books!

  8. I'm not an Eidwelwess account holder so I've been save from the temptation of massive downloading. I don't think I'll be able to resist otherwise. Don't feel bad. :)

    Happy reading!
