In My Mailbox #84

Saturday, June 1, 2013 with 13 comments

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.  It's a weekly meme where we all get to brag about the books and swag we got in the mail, for review, won in contests, etc.

We're finally starting to get caught up around here!  Maybe Jen will even get her shelves reorganized like she's been planning on doing for weeks!  Here's what we got this week...

For Review:

This Song Will Save Your LifeMonsters (Ashes Trilogy, #3)
click on covers to be taken to the Goodreads page for each book

This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales - "the power of music to bring people together" -- yup, I have to read this now.  Isn't that cover great?  (Mendy)

Monsters by Ilsa J. Bick - Gawd, I love this series.  I'm on the edge of my seat every second I'm reading it. Goodreads says this finale is 688 pages long.  Something tells me this one is going to be the most intense yet. (Jen)

Gifted/Won:

Some Quiet Place

Jen already has a galley of this, but the pub also sent a finished copy.

Pivot Point (Pivot Point, #1)

Jen won a finished copy of Pivot Point from Jennifer Messerschmidt of Some Like It Paranormal.  She's already read and reviewed it, but it's one of those books that will be begging for a re-read before the sequel comes out.  =)

So, that's our haul.  How about you?  What did you get this week?

The Week in Review:

Reviews:

Current Giveaways:  the Goddess Tour (sponsored giveaway) & the Spirit Blog Tour (sponsored giveaway)

Recent Winners:  the winners of the Elementals Read Along (signed set of the first three Elementals books) and the 2nd Blogoversary Bash will be contacted early next week and announced on next week's IMM post

Promotional/Discussion Posts:  SYNC's 2013 offerings have officially launched, with Of Poseidon and The Tempest up for grabs this week -- FOR FREE!

Jen's Currently Reading/Listening:

Of Triton (Of Poseidon, #2)Born Of IllusionI initially wanted to read this because of the glamorous cover and the mention of magic, but the fact that the story is set in the 1920s guaranteed I'd pick this up.

Excited to see what's going on with Galen and Emma now that Emma's world has totally been turned upside-down.

Mendy's Currently Reading/Listening:

My Life Next DoorEleanor & ParkI think it's pretty obvious that I'm not a fast reader.  :P

But I am almost done with E&P, and I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.  I'm just not connecting with these characters.  At all.

The Week Ahead:

(Possible) Reviews of Sweet Peril (audio), Tiger Lily (audio), Reboot (audio), The Book of Broken Hearts, Born of Illusion, Wild Awake & Faking It.....we'll see how the week goes before we make any promises.  :P

Jen is reviewing Beautiful Creatures for Movie Monday...she never finished the book, so it should be interesting to see what she has to say about the movie!

We'll be discussing reading slumps and slump busters on this week's Sunday Symposium post.  Something came up last weekend, and I wasn't able to get my posts up, but I still want to discuss this!

  1. Oh, awesome books! This Song Will Save Your Life sounds so awesome, I can't wait to see your review on that. That, and Some Quiet Place. As for Eleanor and Park, I actually hear a lot of people say that about the characters.

  10. VERY excited to read This Song WSYL. I read the first book in that Ilsa Bick series, but it was just too scary for me. I almost stopped reading after that campground scene…
