{The Weekend Update} 3.5.16 - Spring Breakation!!!!

So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit.  I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff: stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog.  Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things.  Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore.  April's also doing her own Stacking the Shelves posts on Sundays.  Stop by and say hi!  =)
You know what's better than the weekend? The weekend leading into Spring Break!!! I'm on vacation for the next week, and although we aren't taking a trip to Disney for Katie's birthday like we did last year -- boy, I will not top that birthday ever WHY DID I DO THAT? -- we have some little excursions planned around here and we're having her birthday party next weekend at Shenaniganz, which is like Dave & Busters for the kidlets. Funfunfun. :D

I haven't decided yet if I'm going to take a break from the blog this coming week. I don't have any posts scheduled -- bad, Jen, bad -- but I do have some reviews I need to get posted and some post ideas in general that I've just been too busy to put together. We shall see. Honestly, I really just want to catch up on my backlist TBR some…even if it's only a couple of books.

Okay, okay. On to the books. Here's what I scored this week...

From Publishers:

I featured both of these books as WoW posts within the last few months and am SO freaking excited to hold them in my hands. I just finished P.S. I Like You by Kasie West last night, and it might just be my new favorite of hers. It was unbelievably adorable. I haven't always had the best luck with the eerie novels she's previously written, but there is just something about the premise of Places No One Knows by Brenna Yovanoff that speaks to me. Might just be my fascination with dreams in general. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ At any rate, I'll be picking it up next.

Traded:

Just posted a new #booksfortrade | Have You Seen This? post and already have some trades pending. I made someone else's dream come true this last month and would love to help others...while also hopefully completing some of my own collections. I think that damn Throne of Glass ARC is going to remain elusive for the rest of my life, though. :( Won't someone take pity on me?!?

Library:

Glass Sword (Red Queen, #2)

I'm not going to spend precious reading time on this book, but some kind of sick fascination makes me want to know what happens after the first book. First, though, I have to wait for my hold on the Red Queen to come through so I can re-read/listen to it as a refresher.

So, that's my haul. =) What fabulous bookmail did you get this week?

Promotional/Discussion Posts:
Currently Reading:

Places No One KnowsI haven't actually started this yet, but it's high on my list of priorities today. Though, maybe I should get me some of that sunshine right now since it's supposed to rain here all week. o_O

Currently Listening:

Sword and Verse (Sword and Verse, #1)I haven't actually started this audiobook either. I finished Reign of Shadows yesterday, and it was rather disappointing. I might review it this week, but it definitely got me to thinking about how so many of the fantasy novels I'd been looking forward to from the first part of this year have apparently been duds. Hopefully, Sword and Verse ends up being better than I've heard…

Upcoming Reviews:

The Star-Touched QueenA Gathering of Shadows (Shades of Magic, #2)Assassin's Heart (Assassin's Heart, #1)The Girl from Everywhere (The Girl from Everywhere, #1)Reign of Shadows (Reign of Shadows, #1)Stand-Off (Winger, #2)Sword and Verse (Sword and Verse, #1)

Just as soon as I finish all that audio. :) Some will probably be mini-reviews.

  5. Reign of Shadows was a little disappointing for me as well. I loved Red Queen, and I bought Glass Sword since I didn't ever get an ARC of it to match my ARC of Red Queen. But haven't picked it up yet. Kind of worried after some of the reviews I've seen. Great haul this week though! My spring break isn't for another week, so I'm a little jealous!
