In this timeless new trilogy about love and sacrifice, a princess must find her place in a reborn world.

In a society steeped in tradition, Princess Lia’s life follows a preordained course. As First Daughter, she is expected to have the revered gift of sight—but she doesn’t—and she knows her parents are perpetrating a sham when they arrange her marriage to secure an alliance with a neighboring kingdom—to a prince she has never met.

On the morning of her wedding, Lia flees to a distant village. She settles into a new life, hopeful when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive—and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assassin sent to kill her. Deception abounds, and Lia finds herself on the brink of unlocking perilous secrets—even as she finds herself falling in love.

A princess?? Sold. That’s pretty much what I thought when I read the description for this on Netgalley. Who doesn’t like a princess book? It doesn’t hurt that the cover is awesome too. I loved The Kiss of Deception. It’s books like these that remind me how much I love Fantasy. I don’t read it nearly enough, but that has to change.

I was so wrapped up in this story. I was supposed to buddy read another book with my friend Jess while reading this… but nope. I just couldn’t. Every time I went to pick up that “other book”, I ended up reading TKOD instead. I’d texted Jess numerous times, “Sorry. I didn’t read any today” She forgave me though an we eventually gave up for the week. Lol.

The Kiss of Deception will make it into my top ten this year, hands down. It was so good! Princess Lia flees to escape an arranged marriage to a prince from another Kingdom. She finds refuge in a small village far away.

She’s followed by two men. One is the Prince she ditched, and Two is an assassin sent out to kill her. I loved how the author didn’t reveal to us right away who was who. Also, I saw a lot of fear on the inter webs of this being a love triangle. It’s not, not really. Trust me when I say it’s not like that. I can’t say much else without spoiling.

Ahhh, how do I review a book I loved so much? Well, let me tell you about Princess Lia. She is amazing. I’m girl crushing for real. She’s strong, beautiful, and such a great person. I adored her to the core. She’s not afraid to get her hands dirty, and she will protect those she loves at all costs.

This may be the worst review I've ever written, because I just loved this book so much. If you haven't read Jen's review yet, you should because hers is way more intelligent. lol

In closing, if you like Fantasy, you need this book in your life.

  2. I want to read this so bad! I was kiiind of worried about the potential love-triangle, but if it's not (dang it I'm super curious now!! XD) then I'm sooo much more excited. I don't read nearly enough fantasy! I DO love it, I just somehow never get around to eating it. (Too much apocalypse in my shelves probably, hehe.) Loved this review so much!!

  3. I'm torn. While Jen's review sold me on TKoD last month, I've since read a negative review (from someone I trust) that had me rethink my interest in this book. But now, you're telling me you LOVED it too! So, naturally, I'm in a pickle. I'm probably better off waiting for the sequel to release or waiting until my library picks up a copy. Hmmm... I really dig fantasy, so that alone should be good enough, but I just still don't know! HELP!
