Top Ten Tuesday: Characters Who We'd Totes Be Besties With

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the awesome ladies at The Broke and the Bookish. Apparently, they are overly fond of list-making and love to share their bookish lists with the rest of us book nerds.  =) We're game.

This week's list features the Top Ten Characters Who X. Fill in the blank -- examples: piss me off, are the popular kids, are bookish, would be my bff, that stole my heart, etc. etc.

April's picks:

The Distance Between Usmaybe one dayThe summer I turned prettyThe Iron QueenThe Host

This was a really hard one! Jen told me I could choose what we did, so I went with BFF. First I chose Caymen from The Distance Between Us. Why? Because of her sarcasm. She is funny, and I love funny. Second, I went with Zoe from Maybe One Day. She's not perfect, but the one thing she is, is an amazing best friend to Olivia. Belly from The Summer I turned Pretty. I watch her grow up through those books and I feel like we would have got along. In her early awkward years as well as her older years. Next.. Meghan Chase from The Iron Fey!!! I kind of love her. I picked the cover for The Iron Queen because the woman she grows into by that point is totally someone I would want to be close with. Last of all, Wanda from The Host because she is the nicest alien I've ever read about, and I kind of love aliens.

Jen's picks:

FangirlMeant to BeUnspoken (The Lynburn Legacy, #1)Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)Lola and the Boy Next Door (Anna and the French Kiss, #2)

So, I'd already started thinking of bookish characters when April decided on BFFs as the topic for this Tuesday's post. Funny thing, though...most of the characters I'd want to be besties with are also bookish, or at least intelligent and sort of eccentric, so I pretty much already had my list. =) There's the awesome fanfic-obsessed Cath from Fangirl. I don't write fan fiction myself, but aside from that, we have a lot in common. And Julia from Meant to Be is my equal in every way that matters, especially when it comes to organization. I was also very studious when I was younger, and I love finding like-minded individuals to associate with. Kami from Unspoken is all kinds of awesome and just the right amount of quirky, plus she's totally obsessed with that newspaper of hers. Hanging out with her would never get old. Of course, Hermione has to be on this list. Not only is she clever and handy to have around in pretty much any situation, but she's also a seriously good friend. Lastly, I'd choose to be best friends with Lola from Lola and the Boy Next Door. She's not exactly bookish, but she'd get me to be a little more adventurous, and her bestie Cricket is nerdy, and I think the three of us would get on splendidly. :D

So, which characters would you want to be best friends with? :)  Share the link to your TTT post so we can visit!

  2. Ooh Caymen's sarcasm was the absolute best. She always thought of all the good quips, whereas I'm normally coming up with them two weeks later ;)

  7. When I read The Distance Between Us, I thought Caymen would be a GREAT best friend. Love her sarcasm and wit :) Cath, definitely. I feel like I'm more of her twin than Wren. Oh, I loved Julia from Meant to Be! I'm so glad I'm not the only one like her. Such a great list, both of you!
