So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit. I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff: stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog. Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things. Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore. April's also doing her own Stacking the Shelves posts on Sundays. Stop by and say hi! =)
Been a rough week around these parts, what with the crazy spring storms here in North Texas and Katie getting a double ear infection, but we're managing. Just so glad it's finally the weekend! Hope you're all doing well, too!

Jen's Currently Reading/Listening To:
Just finished up the first book in my re-listen in preparation for Dreams of Gods & Monsters on Tuesday. It doesn't matter how many times I read these books...I am still so utterly impressed with the writing and the story and just everything. Dying to see how it all ends...

Eep Gilded Ashes! I loved Cruel Beauty so much! Hope you enjoy that one too :D
ReplyDeleteAnd The Island of Excess Love sounds really interesting.
Hope you enjoy them all, and great haul :D
Neysa @ Papier Revue
I loved Gilded Ashes! :) I'm kind of in love with the way Rosamund Hodge (re)writes fairy tales. :D
DeleteYay for The Midnight Thief! I feel like I've been waiting for that one since forever. Gah. Time moves so slow when you're waiting for stuff to come out, but so fast when you've got too many ARCs. THE IRONIES. *ahem* I'm looking forward to your review of Second Star!
ReplyDeleteHaha...I know, right? Oh, the irony! But I'm super excited for The Midnight Thief, especially after reading the prequel novella. Should be good times. :)
DeleteOh boy, I'm sorry to hear you had such a rough week. Yay for the weekend though!! I'm eager to see what you think of Catch a Falling Star. I'm reading The Chapel Wars right now too... it's pretty stinkin' cute. :) Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm on a bit of a contemporary kick these days, lol. I'm in the mood for cute, apparently. :) And thanks...I'm glad she's feeling better and that the weekend is here for us to recuperate. :D
DeleteSo sorry about the double ear infection :-( I hope Katie feels better soon. It is always so stressful when the kiddo is sick. Mine is suffering from the worst allergies right now. I hate not being able to really solve the problem. I hope the weekend treats you well and this next week goes better.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read your Second Star review. MIDNIGHT THIEF!!! I was not aware it was up on NG.
It's the worst, not being able to magically make them feel better. :( Katie's got pretty bad allergies, too, so on top of her antibiotics, she's taking stuff for that, too. She's doing much better now, though, thanks. :)
DeleteYep, I've been stalking NG for it, honestly. Especially after reading that prequel the author sent over. LOVELOVELOVE assassins!!! :D
I also got Catch a Falling star recently. Sorry about the ear infection :( Very painful and no fun at all.
ReplyDeleteJen @ YA Romantics
Nope, no fun at all. But the antibiotics kicked in pretty quick, so she's up and running around again. :) Hope we both enjoy CaFS, especially considering some not so stellar reviews I've seen as of late. :(
DeleteI didn't know that midnight thief was on net galley. I read poison dance and enjoyed it. When your kid is sick is the worst feeling in the world. I hope your kid feels better.
ReplyDeleteGrace
Yep! I loved Poison Dance, too, so I've been dying for The Midnight Thief to show up on NG. :) Yep, it's the worst...and thanks, she's doing much better now, especially after lots of sleep.
DeleteThe Island of Excess Love seems interesting! I need to keep my eyes open for it. :) I hope you're having a great weekend - happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThat one's actually a sequel to Love in the Time of Global Warming...and it was an Odyssey retelling of sorts, and this one's based on Virgil's Aeneid. Short but awesome. :) I hope you're having a great weekend, too!
DeleteThat Seth and Cecily gif just made me fall in love with this blog.... Aaahh, I miss Seth.
ReplyDeleteI read Catch a Falling Star a while ago and quite enjoyed it - it was a cute, fast read perfect for summer :)
Happy reading and have a good weekend!
Ah, thanks! I miss him, too. I can't make it up late enough to catch him on the Late Late Show or whatever. :( I've seen some mixed reviews for Catch a Falling Star, but it sounds cute enough. I think April's actually reviewing it this week and she liked it, too. Hope you have a great weekend, too!
DeleteThings I Can't Forget was a great read! I loved the story, although Kate could definitely be somewhat frustrating. Red at Night also sounds amazing! I hope you enjoy all of your books :)
ReplyDeleteI own three in that series now, I think, and I've yet to read one of them. I don't know what my problem is, lol. I've heard from some that the couple in Red at Night is their favorite yet, so I'm excited to get to that one. :)
DeleteGood haul this week! I picked up Red at Night as well. Happy reading. My STS
ReplyDeleteI'm sure everyone's grabbing Red at Night...no one can resist a freebie. :) Happy reading to you, too!
DeleteGreat set of books this week, Jen. I hope you'll have a better week.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
Ah, thanks. The kiddo is doing much better today. :)
DeleteYay, I thought Catch a Falling Star was cute. :) I was going to get Things I can't forget, but then I decided I have enough shit to read and thats like the third shady oaks or whatever oaks it is. I believe oaks is in the name. not sure. lol. Now I'm just blabbing. :p
ReplyDeleteHaha, I love your blabbing. :) I think I'll like Catch a Falling Star, too. I think this is my third Hundred Oaks story, but I haven't read any of them yet. I guess I'm collecting them for a rainy day? Lol.
DeleteOo, congrats on Midnight Thief!!! I'm still pending for that one *crosses fingers* I hope you love it!
ReplyDeleteAnya @ On Starships and Dragonwings
I really enjoyed the prequel story the author sent for review, so I'm pretty sure I'll love her full-length novel, too. I mean, ASSASSINS. You can't go wrong with those in my book...unless they don't do any assassining. :P
Deletecan't wait to see your thoughts on Chapel Wars. It looks adorable.
ReplyDeleteI'm not very far into it, but it's pretty cute so far. I like the author's other books, too.
DeleteI adored Going Vintage. I havn't read any others. I hope to though.
DeleteAw, I hope Katie feels better! That is rough. AND THE MIDNIGHT THIEF *squeals*
ReplyDeleteThanks, Summer! She's doing much better today. :) And I know! I want to put everything else aside and start that one already...
DeleteGilded Ashes! AHH, I forgot it's out! Crap. :( MUST BUY.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading! :)
Here's mine

ReplyDeleteDouble ear infection! Yikes. Poor girl. I'm excited to read Catch a Falling Star. Midnight Thief looks pretty good, but I held off on that one until it is released. I hope your daughter feels better and that the weather calms down. Great haul!
