Rush promised her forever... but promises can be broken. Torn between his love for his family and his love for Blaire, Rush has to find a way to save one without losing the other. In the end one has to be more important. Letting go isn’t easy. Blaire believed in her fairytale... but no one can live in a fantasy. Her love for Rush and desire to have a family keep her believing that they can find a way for this to work. Until she has to make the right decision for her and the baby. Even if it breaks her heart. Can they find the forever that they both want or has it all just gone... too far?

This will not be an easy review to write. I think that is why I have put this book off for so long. I feel like Forever Too Far should never have been written. Never Too Far (book #2) kind of leaves you hanging. A simple Epilogue would have solved that issue. A whole book was not necessary.
First of all, I want to put out there that I am an Abbi Glines fan. I adored the early Sea Breeze books, and The Vincent boys but somewhere along the way she lost me. I’m still a fan, of her past work. I’ll never take that back, but the stuff she’s been coming out with lately just isn’t good and it gets worse with every title.

That’s harsh, I know and I feel horrible for feeling that way but I’m honest. It's just my opinion. These Fallen Too Far books were what started it all. I kept pushing on because I hoped these characters would grow on me. Unfortunately they have not.

They have become so over the top that they are completely unbelievable. Add the situations, the drama, and the family secrets that are also over the top. Ugh, I love a family secret here and there, but all these characters popping up who were spawned by this one or that one’s father, it’s become a Maury Povich melting pot of fluff.

If you want to know what this book was about in a nutshell, [SPOILER ALERT] Rush and Blaire $@#%… a lot. Rush gets mixed up with Nans problems and isn’t there for Blaire when she needs him so she runs off like a hurt puppy. He follows her, begs forgiveness and they $@#% and get married. $@#% and have the baby, then $@#% some more. Oh and the beginnings of Grants story and portions of Woods story take up the end. *shakes head* <-- remember when I said this book shouldn’t have been written. This is why. It’s a short book to begin with and there wasn’t even enough Rush and Blaire to fill it on their own.

So basically it's Fallen too Far and Never too Far re-written for your pleasure. With bonus content leading into spin offs of course.

The same mistakes, the same drama, and it has all become so predictable. I read this with my close friend Jess. We knew right away what was coming. So enter Grant and new character. That book will set up the same way guaranteed.

Grant lusts for the new character (whom Nan happens to hate…) They will $@#%, and $@#%, and Nan will flip out, and that will cause problems with the new relationship and old one, and both will be hurt, blah blah blah! It will be Rush and Blaire all over again. Why bother? There you go, I just saved you some money.

What gets me the most about the change in these books, is the decline in quality. When I first started reading Abbi Glines books, there was real sexual tension. The characters felt real and their feelings for each other were authentic. Now a days I pick up one of her books and the first thing the guy is thinking is “Oh man, I can’t wait to ram my "Sausage" in her throat. Look at those lips.. they are meant for sucking.” Forget getting to know a person. By chapter #2 they have already exchanged every fluid possible. Then all of a sudden it’s love. NO!!! IT'S NOT!

That’s my main problem with connecting with these characters. They are so shallow and fake. All they want to do is boink (that could be a song!) Then to top it off, there are multiple books put out following all of these characters. Normally I love that sort of thing but not when it's the same story! I was excited when Simple Perfection came out but the Woods you met in Forever too far and Fallen too Far was now just a Rush wannabe sexaholic. Same old crap but with a different title.

I’m sad to say this will most likely be my last Abbi Glines book. I mean that sincerely, and it sucks but this is what has become of her stories. Plot and characterization has been exchanged with distasteful sex and ridiculousness.  I’m not really sure what happened, but I’m not a fan of it.

As for the Sea Breeze books, I don’t plan on finishing those either. They started out great but have hit a downward trend. I would say it’s just me, but it’s not. I’m not the only reader who has picked up on this and vocalized it. It is what it is though. I don’t have to like it, and I certainly don’t have to pay for it. I would still recommend her early stuff. Especially the Vincent Boys.

    1. It makes me sad that you deleted this but I know why, and while I'm surprised because you've always spoke your mind and stood behind it, I respect your decision.

  2. This makes me sad. I haven't ever read an AG book, but I'm not likely to now, even though I have a couple of them on my Kindle. I just can't start a series (even if it's just companion books) knowing that the later books are complete shite. Do you think she changed her writing for her audience, or do you think this is just the way she always intended these books to go? Either way, I don't think I want any part of them. Thanks for your honest review, Apes!

    1. I'm not sure. I think maybe a little of both. I think it has a lot to do with her main fan base. I remember when she started to get a little dirtier it While it Lasts, and most of her fans ate it up. Now I was okay with that one being a little dirtier because that was just how Cages character always was. He was the womanizing player, so I expected it of him. but then every character after followed suite and it's almost become a contest on what character can be more of a prick.

Can I start calling you Jenny Poo? lol

  3. The earlier stuff is my favorite too. I'll always love The Vincent Boys! And I still laugh when I think about your great review for Breathe. The letter K makes everything Klassy, eh?

  4. I've only read one of her books and I think it was book two in the Sea Breeze set. I have two others in my TBR pile and they are The Vincent Boys. I saw this series you just reviewed, but I didn't pick it up b/c just the blurbs sounded like too much drama for my taste. I don't have much patience when there isn't a well-developed plot. Sorry to hear it was a rough go, but at least I know to stick with what I've already got and not worry about the later books.

    1. yes!! Her early stuff is good. The later stuff = No plot. The Vincent Boys are my favorite. Though I've heard she has redone those, edited in more dirty scenes. I have the early versions.

  5. I've never heard of this author before, but I'm guessing that's because her work falls into the NA category; I have yet to read a NA book. I'm mostly turned off by them, but I know there's a few out there that really shine. Judging from your response to this title, this one isn't one of them. While Glines isn't the author for me, I do appreciate your honest review. Thanks, April! I hope your next NA read delivers!

  6. I gave up on Abbi's books a while ago. They seem to get more ridiculous and angst filled with each one. I can't take it any more! And no reviews of the newer ones have convinced me to change my mind. I admire you for finishing this book!
