Bad Boy Rehab Hop

Bad Boy Rehab Hop

January 10 – January 17, 2013
Hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and The Book Hookup
We tried giving up Bad Boys for our New Year’s Resolution…..
but try to make me go to rehab and I said, "No, No, No."
Bad Boy (n.) person
1. A guy who has many characteristics of a naughty, naughty boy.
OMG let the drooling begin.
2. A heartbreaker with a five o’clock shadow.
Rawrrrrrr!
3. Independent and willful. Does what he wants when he wants. Never follow trends, they follow him.
4. Someone that’s not looking for trouble, but there’s a serious sense of danger about him.
We love danger!
Usable Note: A bad boy is a gorgeous man with MANY layers and is INSANELY irresistible to women. *raises hands*… YES PLEASE!

The second I saw the announcement for this hop, I knew I'd have to participate.  I can't get enough of bad boys in books!  I don't always ship the bad boy, but I always find them appealing.  =)  Here are some of my faves:

The Bad Boy Musician  (This is probably my favorite category seeing as how I ended up marrying a musician. :P)

Kaiden Rowe from the Sweet Evil series - This bad boy plays the drums for the up-and-coming band Lacivious.  If the name of the band doesn't tell you everything you need to know about this bad boy, here's the skinny:  Kai is the son of the Duke of Lust and he's out to teach naive, virginal Anna Whitt a little about the ways of the world according to the demons of sin.  Only thing is, he's fallen for our girl Anna.  Will he continue with his philandering ways, or will he give in to his feelings for Anna?

Cole Stockton from the Everneath series - Cole's not just the lead guitarist and vocals for The Dead Elvises...he's also an Everliving:  an immortal from the Everneath who feeds on the emotions of humans.  But he's not just after Nikki's grief and guilt.  He wants her to become his queen and rule the Everneath by his side as an Everliving herself.  And he'll stop at nothing to make it happen.  Want some insight into the mind of this ultimate bad boy?  Check out the novella from his POV!

The Bad Boy with a Secret (or what I like to call the would-be reformed bad boy)

Will Herondale from The Infernal Devices trilogy - This bad boy's situation is tragic. He acts out so that no one gets close to him or his secret.  Will is charming and handsome, but he's also antagonizing and ready for a fight.  He pushes everyone away, except for his best mate, even though he's in love with is fiance.  Like I said, tragic.  But I'm pulling for Will because I know that, deep down, he wants to be loved and understood like the rest of us.  I really hope he gets his happy ending...

Cassel Sharpe from the Curse Workers series - Cassel doesn't want to be bad.  He just wants to find his place in the world.  And he wants Lila.  Is it too much to ask for both?  Cassel is pragmatic and sensible, but he's a bit of a risk-taker.  He sets up a gambling ring at his boarding school.  He even takes on the would-be mobsters of the Curse Worker world.  All the while concealing a secret even he himself is unaware of until it's almost too late.

The Bad Boy with a Trust Fund

Noah Shaw from the Mara Dyer series - I swoon for Noah like no other.  This particular bad boy is a conundrum.  He was once like all of the other bad boys that have come before him:  cocky, self-important, a flirt...the ultimate ladies man.  But he was changed when he met Mara.  Noah would do anything for this girl, including getting himself committed.  And he's got the means to do it.  But how far is he willing to take things to ensure Mara's safety?

Adrian Ivashkov from the Bloodlines series - Okay, so maybe Adrian's been cut off from his family's money, but that doesn't mean he still doesn't act like a pompous, rich guy.  I don't mind, though.  And truth be told, I don't think Sydney minds all that much either, if she really allows herself to feel all the feels.  Adrian's already had his heart broken once.  I don't want to see it happen again.  Not because he'll lose his bad boy cred, but doesn't every bad boy deserve a good girl?  If things go south with Sydrian, I fully expect him to return to his bad boy ways, though.

The New Bad Boy in Town

Julian "Jones" from The Memory Chronicles - Your first clue that a guy is bad news is that you're questioning whether the name he gave you is a fake.  Your second clue is that despite "dating" your best friend, he's making out with you on your parent's couch.  So, is it any surprise that he's left you broken-hearted?  Probably not.  Still, he does come back to save you from the hell that is your afterlife, so maybe there's some good left in him afterall.

I'll let you be the judge of that.  On my stop of the Bad Boy Rehab Hop, you can win your very own finished copy of 2013 debut novelist Lenore Appelhans' Level 2!  (My full review can be found here.)  See below for further details.

    1. Truth. But why, in this particular instance, am I crazy? The detailed explanation for my love of each bad boy, the specific bad boys I chose, or simply my participation? ;)
