Four months have passed since the shadow stone fell into Kell’s possession. Four months since his path crossed with Delilah Bard. Four months since Rhy was wounded and the Dane twins fell, and the stone was cast with Holland’s dying body through the rift, and into Black London.

In many ways, things have almost returned to normal, though Rhy is more sober, and Kell is now plagued by his guilt. Restless, and having given up smuggling, Kell is visited by dreams of ominous magical events, waking only to think of Lila, who disappeared from the docks like she always meant to do. As Red London finalizes preparations for the Element Games—an extravagant international competition of magic, meant to entertain and keep healthy the ties between neighboring countries—a certain pirate ship draws closer, carrying old friends back into port.

But while Red London is caught up in the pageantry and thrills of the Games, another London is coming back to life, and those who were thought to be forever gone have returned. After all, a shadow that was gone in the night reappears in the morning, and so it seems Black London has risen again—meaning that another London must fall.

I will absolutely read anything Victoria Schwab writes. Her writing is beyond my wildest dreams, and I can't wait to read the sequel to what was one of my favorite books this year. I was blown away by the magic and the characters, but it sounds like this follow-up is going to be even better, if that's possible. :) I just can't get enough of Kell and his fabulous coat or Lila and her ferocity. February can't get here soon enough!

A Darker Shade of Magic (A Darker Shade of Magic, #1)A Gathering of Shadows  (A Darker Shade of Magic, #2)  vs. A Darker Shade of Magic (A Darker Shade of Magic, #1)A Gathering of Shadows  (A Darker Shade of Magic, #2)

I don't know which covers I prefer more -- the US versus the UK editions -- which is probably why I've already started collection both versions for my shelf. :P

  4. I'm not a fan of the stick-figure like covers at all. But I look forward to reading those eventually, coz they sound amazing, and I only heard great things about them -- and about Schwab.
Hape the sequel doesn't disappoint against all odds. ;)

  5. I really need to catch up! The only book I've read by Schwab is The Archived. I've heard so many good things about ADSOM though, so that will probably be my next read from here. I hope you enjoy the second book!
