The Weekend Update - 8.2.14

So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit.  I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff: stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog.  Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things.  Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore.  April's also doing her own Stacking the Shelves posts on Sundays.  Stop by and say hi!  =)
It's been a busy week in these parts, with me returning to work from vacation and my sister leaving for her vacation -- and leaving me all of her responsibilities at the office, too. *sigh* But I made it to Saturday and I've got a ton of great books to show for all my hard work. Not that the two are related, but it feels like a reward of sorts. =)

Anyway, here's what I scored this week:

Where Silence Gathers (Some Quiet Place, #2)MagnoliaI kept hearing awesome rumblings about this one, but as a Romeo and Juliet retelling IN REVERSE, I was pretty sold on the idea. =)

I loved the first book, and I got this one for review, but I just couldn't fit it into the schedule. Plus, I'd seen someone who loved the first book say that this one was kind of painful to get through, so I thought the audio might help in that respect.

  2. Eeep! SO much awesome here! I have told myself to stay faaaar away from Edelweiss/Netgalley until I've actually read some more of series that I've been meaning to read forever. Like...um, Gallagher Girls and Harry Potter. :| I'm ashamedly behind!! But those covers are all really beautiful and tempting. ;) SO SO awesome you've got so many signed too! And This Shattered World...*swoons*

  4. You can't resist books on Edelweiss, you just can't! Red Queen and A wicked thing were two of the books I snatched away as well. Everything that makes you look good too, but I didn't want to go too crazy :p What a pretty stack of books from MacMillan and signed too, that's the best!

    Happy reading :D

  6. I'm reading These Broken Stars at the moment, Jen! I'm seriously loving the dynamic between Tarver and Lilac! <3 It excites me that you have This Shattered World in your possession! I can't wait to see how you like it. I have no idea what Sway is about, but I ADORE the cover, so naturally, I'm intrigued! Red Queen and The Last Time We Say Goodbye are two titles I'll be requesting. I hope I get approved! *crosses fingers* OH SNAP! Your gifts from MacMillan!!! *high five for those* Amazing haul, Jen! Enjoy all the books!

  7. This Shatter World!! It's sooooo good! I loved it so much. Very different from the first book, but I love how things are starting to come together for this world, too. Can't wait to see what you think! I loved Silver Shadows, too! That ending (!!!!). Sydrian = best ship ever. :D I'm reading The Winner's Curse right now, and am really looking forward to buying Magnolia next week. :)
