So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit. I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff: stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog. Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things. Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore. April's also doing her own Stacking the Shelves posts on Sundays. Stop by and say hi! =)
Happy weekend! I'm starting vacation today, so I'm probably poolside again with I'll Give You the Sun, thanks to Christina letting me borrow her copy. It's the hubby's busy season at work, so we're not technically going anywhere since he can't take any time off right now -- I get a ton of vacation time at work but I have to use it or lose it -- but that doesn't mean I won't be escaping into a good book. :) Katie and I are going to have a bit of a stay-cation, checking out stuff around Dallas that we don't do all that often. Should be nice and relaxing. I'm just hoping the nice weather holds for a bit longer before we're back to those 100° days!
For Review:
Gates of Thread and Stone by Lori M. Lee - A labyrinth? Magic? Manipulating time? Yes, please!!! I can't wait to start this one!
Not in the Script by Amy Finnegan - I had so much fun with the other two IF ONLY novels that I'm sure to adore this one, as well. =)
Purchases:
Flat-Out Celeste by Jessica Park - Loved Flat-Out Love when I read it last year. Picked up this follow-up novel for $0.99 for my Kindle last weekend, so I'm not sure it's still on sale.
So, that's my haul. How about you? What did you get this week?

I tried to start reading this earlier this summer but had to put it down for reasons. But I'm devoting the whole weekend and the start of my vacation to it. It's off to a promising start, so I'm sure it'll bowl me over, just as The Sky is Everywhere did.
I had this for review ages ago and read some reviews and decided to move it down the pile. But I was looking for something lighter after all of the Heir of Fire feels, and my library had this audio available. It'll be my first experience with a Simone Elkeles book, and I'm not quite sure what to expect...

Gates of Thread and Stone and Flat-Out Celeste look so good! I have one on my Kindle and one on Pre-order, and I'm looking forward to reading both. I'm really hoping you like Wild Cards. It's one of the only Simone Elkeles books I haven't read yet, so I don't know if it's as good as the ones I've read. She's one of my favorite authors--I loved the Perfect Chemistry and Leaving Paradise series! I hope you enjoy your new books. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm dying to read I'll Give You the Sun! Enjoy your vacation. :D (Yes, I'm a little jealous... :-P )
ReplyDeleteOhhh I'm looking forward to your review of Heir of Fire. Hehe. If I'm brave enough to read it. I'm so ridiculously excited for that book. I'll Give You the Sun definitely looks awesome and very summery. x) My Stacking the Shelves!
ReplyDeleteAwesome haul of books. I so am looking forward to your review of Gates of Thread and Stone.

Very curious what You'll think of Gates of Thread and Stone! It looks awesome. Have a great vacation!
ReplyDeleteAwesome haul! I haven't read Flat Out of Love yet, but I did read Left Drowning recently. Have fun reading I'll Give You the Sun! I heard it's really good. And I loved Wild Cards!
ReplyDeleteNice haul, I so want to read Gates of Thread and Stone. Just love the sound of it :D
ReplyDeleteMy new pretties :)
Yay for stay-cations! I hope you and Katie have a great time together! Mommy / Daughter time is the best. :) I would like some of your 100's please!! lol. It's the middle of July, and yesterday morning is was 52 degrees when I left for work. That's ridiculous. This whole past week it's been very cool. And we haven't even gotten into the 90's yet, which is weird. We usually get some hot spells, but it's been all 70 and lower 80's. You would probably love that. We've just has such a cold winter and spring, I was hoping summer would really bake us out.
ReplyDeleteGates of Thread and Stone looks really good! And Flat Out Celeste was cute. :)
Great haul! I've been hearing a lot about Gates of Thread and Stone the past few weeks, but I couldn't find it on Netgalley I will have to try checking again. I hope you enjoy your vacation! Sounds like it will be pretty relaxing.
ReplyDeleteHere is my post: http://justin941bookblog.blogspot.com/2014/07/stacking-shelves-9-blog-recap.html
Dudeee, fabulous haul!! I got Gates of Thread and Stone for review as well - I was surprisingly a little bit disappointed, perhaps my expectations were too high. I do want to read the sequel though. I didn't enjoy Wild Cards at all though O_O My first Elkeles venture... went poorly. Yikes! I see Jen reviewed Mortal Danger - interesting take on things. I liked the book, but I definitely see your points.
ReplyDeleteI hope you all enjoy your books! Have a fabulous weekend!
Check out my STS post!
Yay! I'm excited for Not in the Script! And Gates of Thread and Stone should be really good! I can't wait to hear thoughts on that one! Happy reading Jen! And enjoy your staycation!
ReplyDeleteVery interested to see what you think of all three of those books!
ReplyDeleteFlat Out Celeste - I am, for the moment, refusing to pick up this book because I feel like the author added some very unnecessary drama (don't want to say any more if you haven't read the synopsis).. so. I'm just upset about the whole thing, mainly because Flat Out Love is one of my favorite books ever. Celeste and Justin do sound adorable though.
Not in the Script looks so cute! And dual pov!
Gates of Thread and Stone - it's getting some mixed reviews, but that summary sounds fantastic. I hope you enjoy it!
I hope you are having a fabulous week with your daughter! Sometimes it's nice just to stay at home and read and explore your city. Not in the Script sounds pretty cute. I haven't read the other If Only books, but I remember that you enjoyed them. I've seen the cover for Gates of Thread and Stone, but am not that familiar with it. Great haul! Again, I hope your week is fabulous!
