So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit. I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff: stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog. Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things. Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore. April's also doing her own Stacking the Shelves posts on Sundays. Stop by and say hi! =)
It's bluebonnet season in Texas, which means my family will be hitting up the annual Bluebonnet Festival and Trails this weekend. I wish I could just plant myself out there in the middle of them all day and read to my heart's content, especially since we're going to have such beautiful weather this weekend, but I'll be satisfied with the photo ops the beautiful fields of flowers provide. :D
Anyway, here's what I scored this week:
Red Rising by Pierce Brown - $1.99 for Kindle! (April's been raving about this one!)
Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor - bought HC & audio :D (already read & LOVED)
Library:
Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley (audio)
Look at me, not requesting anything for review! I'd say I was proud of myself if I could also admit that I hadn't also been stalking Netgalley & Edelweiss daily, to no avail. o_O How about you? What did you get this week?
Reviews:
- Catch a Falling Star (April)
- Second Star (Jen)
- The Falconer (Jen)
- The Lunar Chronicles #1-3 (April)
- The Forever Song (April & Jen)

Jen's Currently Reading/Listening To:
April and I are reading this one together, and though the story isn't all that unique, I can totally see why so many readers find this author's work so addictive. Oh, wait...didn't I mention that this was my first JLA novel? And April's? Yeah, we figured how better to experience our first JLA book than with a buddy read.
After reading/listening to Dreams of Gods & Monsters concurrently, I needed something less...dire. I've had this book on my shelf for ages, and having seen it available for download from my library, I decided to get the audio. Best decision ever! I love those Aussies and their awesome accents! =)
Got this from the library and it's due back soon, so I'm hoping to get through it this weekend. It's good from what I've read of it so far, and I've seen plenty of favorable reviews for it, which makes me hopeful.

I love that you're both reading your first JLA book together. :) Great idea! I've been eager to read Don't Look Back, so I'm looking forward to your joint thoughts on it. Graffiti Moon I've had on my Audible list for a bit. I'm a little weird about accents on audios though, so I'm not sold just yet. lol Hope you enjoy your weekend, Jen! :)
ReplyDeleteSo I also got Dreams of Gods and Monsters too this week, and Graffiti Moon also O.O Isn't the coincidence kinda scary? XD
ReplyDeleteAnyway, hope you enjoy it! I'm enjoying it so far :)

Graffiti Moon is so freaking awesome. I hope you'll enjoy, Jen. And yay! for self-control. Lol.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
The bluebonnets look gorgeous. It's finally getting warmer where I live too. Enjoy the lovely spring weather!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, I need to get my copy of Dreams of Gods and Monsters. Like NOW. Everyone has their copy! I can't wait to see what you think of it. And Red Rising is $1.99?! Off to Amazon I go! :D Enjoy your new books, Jen!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous weekend!
Check out my STS post!
I've only read Daughter of Smoke and Bone but I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of this series! Happy reading!

Nice haul you have this week. I have heard so many amazing things about Red Rising, I'm very eager to get myself that one and start reading it. I hope you enjoy your books :) My STS.
ReplyDeleteThe Bluebonnet Festival sounds so fun. I'm so happy that it is finally Spring although I think you've probably had nicer weather in TX than we've had in PA. I hope you share some more photos!
ReplyDeleteI saw Red Rising was on sale, but didn't snag it. I just have so many books I've requested to get through--plus some books that I'm dying to get my hands on that come out in the next couple of months--that I knew that it just wouldn't happen. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed Dreams of Gods. That's the final book, right? I still need to read the first book (I know, I know), so it makes me happy that the series ended on a good note. I wasn't going to bother if there were a lot of complaints.
I've been much better with NG and EW, too, although I've been going to both every day, too. Lol. There is a book on EW that I'm DYING to get my hands on, but since it has been a month since I requested it, my hopes of actually snagging it are pretty diminished. Oh, well. Hope you have a great weekend and happy reading!
I'm glad you loved DoGaM, such an excellent finish to the series. And, I'm happy to hear you're loving Graffiti Moon, I'm about to re-read it via audio!

Curious what you'll think about Don't Look Back...excited to read your review. I can't wait to hear about Red Rising too! That one was a bit mixed for me and I can't wait to hear all your thoughts. I love the bluebonnets...so beautiful :-) Enjoy and take some beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteI need to start Dont Look Back!! Great haul!

I LOVE RED RISING. Honestly, it was mind blowing in awesome...even now, gah, I'm just dying for the sequel. That is a series I'm pretty sure I could happily read a million books of. Graffiti Moon is also awesome. :)) It's kind of cool, because it takes place over ONE NIGHT. Like, gosh! A whole book that only consists of one night?! I really enjoyed it. XD
ReplyDeleteI want to take pictures of the bluebonnets this week. With all of the rain, they are going to look GREAT! Lovely picture!
ReplyDeleteAlso, Dreams of Gods and Monsters?! I am reading it now, and no regrets. I was acting like a fool in the laundry mat when I read chapter 31. Good stuff!
ooh i can't wait to see what you think of the chapel wars.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
