I'll have to look the others up on Goodreads. <br /><br />As for the scenario above I think that was awful advice. I would never take the fall for someone shoplifting since the consequences could go beyond a simple grounding. Who knows the mother of your friend might even call the cops on you and since you already acknowledged you were the culprit you'd be screwed.
