So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit. I might tweak the format a bit over time, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff: stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog. Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things. Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore.
On one hand, I'm glad it's October because it means the 100 degree days are a thing of the past, at least until next summer, but I still can't believe how quickly this year is flying by. I'm putting out my fall and Halloween decor today and just generally getting excited because this is my favorite time of year. Jerrod will be heading to the deer lease nearly every weekend and Katie and I get girls' night while he's gone, so we end up watching all my old favorite movies - like Labyrinth and Goonies and The Princess Bride - and baking and sitting by the fire and just genuinely loving every minute we have together.
Plus, I think it's finally time we start reading Harry Potter together. She's in third grade and reading a bit beyond her expected reading level, so I think it's time. I know she can do this and it's going to make the experience that much more awesome. She's already a huge HP fan -- she's going to be Hermione again for Halloween this year! -- so this will just make it all the more special. I'm beyond excited for it. I'll definitely be documenting the experience...for you guys and for posterity's sake. :D
Anyway, here's what I scored this week...
From Publishers/For Review:
I limited myself to these six on EW, though there were doubtless others I would have loved to download. Still, this is a good start. And if I finish these and review them, I may allow myself to go back for the others. :)
Traded:
No trades this week, but I do still have these available for trade and/or pay for shipping:

Gifted:
You only wish you had an awesome bookish best friend like mine. She sent me everything seen here, with the exception of the B&N gift card, which my mom gave me for absolutely no reason. She just loves me that much. As apparently does my bestie. She has to since she sent me a TTTT ARC from SDCC, an ARC of Like a River Glorious, and ARC of Seven Days of You, and ARC of Three Dark Crowns, an ARC of Jane Steele, an ARC of The Mime Order, a finished hardcover of The Near Witch, a signed HC of Fangirl, and a gorgeous Fangirl bookmark. Plus, the funniest note that beat me to the punch of a joke that she just knew I was going to make before I even opened the box that all these goodies came in. We are undoubtedly #bookishsoulmates.
Purchased:
Of course, I had to pre-order Crooked Kingdom for the goodies, but I also bought it on audio so I didn't have to wait until I got home that day to start it. Of course, I didn't really get very far this week on it because of reasons, but I'm getting there and it is absolutely glorious and every bit as good as I'd hoped.
Library:
I kept seeing Shuffle, Repeat pop up on my GR feed, and since I had such good luck with The Hating Game for the same reason, I decided to go for it. Hope it's another adorable book! Finally, finally my library uploaded some new audiobooks, including my requests that they add the rest of the Megan Whalen Turner books to their catalog. Plus, I grabbed some sequels that I've been waiting till the audio to pick up. I shouldn't be wanting for audio for, oh, a few days, anyway. Lol...
So, that's my haul. =) What fabulous bookmail did you get this week?

Currently Reading:
Reading this for review for my tour stop on Monday. Not gonna lie, I'm forcing myself to read it out of obligation, not because it's what I'm in the mood for. Which may weigh on my feelings toward the book in the end. But hopefully the book will end up being good enough to make up for my not being in the mood for it. ;0)
Currently Listening:
I had a killer toothache that morphed into a killer migraine that lasted all week, so I hardly read or listened to anything at all. Which is why I'm still working my way through this audio...

Some nice books you got here! I really want to read A Shadow Bright and Burning! And I probably already should have read Six of Crows, but well, now I won't have to wait for the second book :p Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThat's great you want to start reading Harry Potter with your daughter. I was Hermione one year for Halloween when I was younger too! I'm actually having a whole Harry Potter month on my blog if you want to stop by.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you got lots of books read! That's awesome. I'm hoping October will be a better reading month for me.
