The Weekend Update - 11.15.14

Saturday, November 15, 2014 with 6 comments
So, since my end-of-the-week post isn't just about what I got in my mailbox or on my Kindle each week -- though that is a big part of it, I won't lie -- I decided to change up the title and intro a bit.  I might tweak the format a bit over the next few weeks, but for the most part, it'll contain the same stuff: stuff I got, stuff I did, and stuff that's coming up on the blog.  Plus, I get to use the awesome GIF you see here and blow kisses to all the people who sent me lovely books and bookish things.  Oh, and I've started linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga's Reviews since I'm not using a specific meme title anymore.  April's also doing her own Stacking the Shelves posts on Sundays.  Stop by and say hi!  =)

Ugh. I've been sick all week, so I haven't been around much. Haven't read much. Haven't moved much, if I'm being honest. BUT, I did catch up on over 20 hours of DVR'd programming, including Once Upon a Time, Reign, and The Vampire Diaries. So, I feel accomplished. :D And hey, I might even do a post about it!

From now until the end of the year, at least, I'm going to be taking it easy like this. You can read more about me and April's step back here. We're not going anywhere...we just need to refocus on why we started blogging to begin with: our shared love of reading. Which I will be doing plenty of now that I can see straight again, lol.

Anyway, here's what I scored this week:

Library:

A Little Something DifferentThe Kiss of DeceptionMy True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories

Three great audiobooks from the library, yay! I already listened to  A Little Something Different. It was just the adorable I needed in my life at just the right time. I had an ARC but I didn't get to it before the release date, so I decided to grab the audio and it was a GREAT decision. The squirrel was probably my favorite "narrator". :) I read and reviewed The Kiss of Deception earlier this year, but with the cover reveal for the sequel this week, I was anxious for a re-read/listen. I had thought that the audio was a full cast, but not quite. Still, very good. =) I also have a galley of My True Love Gave to Me that I'd been putting off till closer to the holidays, but they're almost here, so it's time. Since the audio was available from my library, though, I'm going that route. :0)

For Review:

Nada. =)

Purchased:

Zilch. :)

Won:

Nothin'. :D

So, that's my haul. How about you? What did you get this week?

Jen's Currently Reading/Listening To:

The Kiss of DeceptionThis Shattered World (Starbound, #2)LOVING this sequel to maybe my favorite YA sci-fi tale. That Jubilee Chase is one amazing heroine...a real spitfire. Flynn isn't so bad, either. I love how this novel is so different from the first collab but feels similar enough to be familiar.

I felt like everything about this week(end) should be comfy and cozy, so it's time for a re-listen of one of my favorite novels this year, especially as I eagerly anticipate the follow-up to it.

Upcoming Reviews:

Unraveled (Crewel World, #3)The Retribution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #3)A Little Something Different

  1. A little perspective is a good thing. :) I hope things will be better now. Anyway, looking forward to your thoughts on A Little Something Different. I've been meaning to read my copy, but just haven't quite gotten there yet. Squirrel POV sounds like fun!

  2. I reading This Shattered World this weekend too!! So far, I'm with you...100% LOVE Jubilee. x) Flynn feels a little flat, at the moment, but I do still like him! (I think I prefer Lilac/Tarver's dynamics though. But still. ;) I'm trying not to compare the books too much.)
I hope you're feeling better though....ughhhh being sick is the WORST. Catching up on tv series is good though. ;-) I'm finishing up a whole bunch of seasons (I watch way too many things simultaneously, lol) and wondering what to try next. XD

  4. I bought A Little Something Different because I was DYING to read it and I hope it was just that I wasn't in the right mood because I didn't get into it. But I fully plan on doing so again next week. My True Love Gave to Me looks GREAT. I'm not a big fan of novellas/short stories, but I can't resist with the sound of that one!
