"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's WoW selection is...
Author: Cassandra Rose Clarke
Series: The Assassin's Curse, book #2
Publisher: Strange Chemistry
Publication Date: June 4, 2013
After setting out to break the curse that binds them together, the pirate Ananna and the assassin Naji find themselves stranded on an enchanted island in the north with nothing but a sword, their wits, and the secret to breaking the curse: complete three impossible tasks. With the help of their friend Marjani and a rather unusual ally, Ananna and Naji make their way south again, seeking what seems to be beyond their reach.
Unfortunately, Naji has enemies from the shadowy world known as the Mists, and Ananna must still face the repercussions of going up against the Pirate Confederation. Together, Naji and Ananna must break the curse, escape their enemies — and come to terms with their growing romantic attraction.

Why I'm waiting: I just read The Assassin's Curse, closely followed by The Witch's Betrayal, and I knew I was going to like this story, but I just didn't know how much I was going to enjoy it. And then the author goes and ends the first book right after the main character has this huge realization that could change the course of their quest! I waited a long time before picking up the first book, but maybe I should have waited a little longer, at least until this book was released, anyway. Someone could have warned me, at least. :P
ETA: This is up on Netgalley!!! The WoW gods have smiled upon me again! =)
What are you waiting on this week? Feel free to share it in the comments or leave a link so I can stop by!
I was iffy about the first book but I have seen nothing but great things about it so I decided to read it sometime. A pirate and an assassin sound like an interesting pair.

After reading your review of the Assissin's Curse, (which I didn't plan to read until seeing your review), and thinking long and hard about it, I've decided to give this series a try. I wasn't too sure... but now I'm convinced. And I'm thinking AUDIO too! :)

I just got this one and I cannot wait to read it! Also, I had never head of The Witch's Betrayal. Is it an important addition? I loathe Leila so much!! Oh and do you actually have a COPY of The Bitter Kingdom? You mentioned avoiding temptation on my post so I was just wondering. That would make my WOW today. Lucky you if you have it!
ReplyDeleteI really love the covers from this series :)
ReplyDeleteWoW Mel@thedailyprophecy.
I'm super excited for this one too! The first book was quite good and hit me in several of my narrative weaknesses.
ReplyDeleteI am SO EXCITED to read this one, simply because The Assassin's Curse was so good. I really hope this one lives up to all my expectations of it. Wonderful pick! :)
ReplyDeleteOk I'm going to have to visit NetGalley ASAP! :)
ReplyDeleteThis does sound like an interesting series. I haven't really looked at it beyond the awesome font on the covers before now but I can see why you'd want this sequel! Yay for Netgalley too! :)
ReplyDeleteI really, really want to read the assassins curse. Glad to know it has a sequel! Cool pick :)
ReplyDeleteEmily @ Counting in Bookcases (My WOW).
Ah, I still need to read the first one!
ReplyDeleteSunny @ Blue Sky Bookshelf
I haven't read that series yet because something undefinable puts me off, but after reading how much you enjoyed the first book I'll have to rethink that! I hope you'll get to read the sequel early ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my post!
P.S.: I know exactly which scene in Armageddon you're talking about ;) Though personally it reminded me more of Deep Impact.
Ugh, i want to read this series SO BAD! Love the covers, and the synopsis!
