Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week's teaser comes from the following book:

Add to Goodreads
Title: Level 2
Author: Lenore Appelhans
Series: The Memory Chronicles, book #1
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers
Publication Date: January 15, 2013
Source: ARC received from publisher
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble

Three levels. Two loves. One choice. Debut novelist, Lenore Appelhans has written a thrilling otherworldly young adult novel about a place that exists between our world (Level 1) and what comes after life (Level 2).

'I pause to look around the hive - all the podlike chambers are lit up as the drones shoot up on memories ... I've wanted to get out of here before, but now the tight quarters start to choke me. There has to be more to death than this.'

Felicia Ward is dead. Trapped in a stark white afterlife limbo, she spends endless days replaying memories, of her family, friends, boyfriend ... and of the guy who broke her heart. The guy who has just broken into Level 2 to find her.

Felicia learns that a rebellion is brewing, and it seems she is the key. Suspended between heaven and earth, she must make a choice. Between two worlds, two lives and two loves.

My teaser:

"Maybe someone wanted you to trust them."  He steps in very close and brushes strands of my hair over my shoulder.  "Or they wanted you to react a certain way, so they pruned your life to form a new narrative."
-- p. 177 of ARC

This book is awesome!  And it's written by a fellow blogger!  I love theorizing about the afterlife and what it holds for us, but this story takes it so far beyond anything I ever imagined.  Definitely a 2013 debut to add to your list!  Also, FYI, you can read the first 11 chapters on your ereader:  B&N | Amazon!

What are you teasing today? Share it in the comments or leave a link so I can stop by!
